aftermarket cluch+drivetrain probs warranty Q's
Ok got a 07 tc with 48000 miles on it. I had a after market clutch installed bout year ago.. just month ago car would not start.. got to shop and find out that vvt went out caused bend valves and thrust washer has came out into and mess up some stuff too. Now car is still under 60000 and 5 years on drivetrain.. Shop guy pulled aside said to check warranty thru scion. My concern is that scion is contest that aftermarket cluch voids warranty.. I called scion when clutch went out year ago and was wearable item not covered.. reason had aftermarket put in. Shop says need new longblock to get back up running or see if scion will cover under warranty. Whats odds that will cover under warranty? Should have aftermarket clutch pulled and oem put back in? So what should i do?

Please search. This is covered a billion times a day. The ONLY reason why an aftermarket part would cause a warranty to be void is IF that PART is the cause of the warranty claim. Legally Scion cannot deny your warranty for the valve problems since the clutch had no part in the issue.
Keep the clutch on there. Its a wearable item as you said, and would not affect warranty.

while the clutch will not cause an issue scion/toyota will try anything to not cover it under warranty, make sure you have records of oil changes, service, etc. I had my engine blow with about 40k and they hassled me about the warranty because i did the oil changes myself.
