hey i got an idea! how about going to a muffler shop and having a straight pipe welded in in place of the secnd cat to get it a little louder and take the money you saved and buy an s-pipe, the most restrictive part in the exhaust. Youll end up a little bit louder and youll be improving the worst part of the exhaust. I think its kinda pointless to buy a midpipe. They only prblem with the stock one is the cat, just cut it out and save some money.

The stock pipe is around 2" all the way the Megan is 2.5" to the rear flange then it goes to like 2.25"

The Megan should flow better I would say out of all the parts of the exhaust changed I noticed the mid pipe the most.

this is not a bad idea at all. but the thing is, i live in cali. i dont want to have to pay more in the long run putting it all back to stock if i get pulled over or for emissions.

as long as you have the cat in the manifold your fine. Changing the spipe will not effect anything and is legal. The emmisions tests are done by plugging in the machine to your cars obd2 port and it reads the ecu. The ecu knows its own emmisions levels by reading the second 02 sensor, thats all that 02 sensor does. And as long as you have the first cat and everything works properly you will pass.

thier is a straight pipe sold online, but here in cali you want to pass visual at least if pulled over. i've tried having shops do that before and they wont budge some will report you also because 1:illegal to remove smog equipment 2:shops get fines and held liable. cops can pull you over to check your car with no other reason here in cali.

there is a way around it...cut out the stock cat, cut it apart and put a pipe through it so it still loks stock and weld it back in.

thatts a alot of work dont you think? i would rather buy the mid pipe because in the long run i can put the car back to stock if i ever have to sell it. modded cars are much harder to sell then stock cars.
