to each is own i suppose..but seriously taek iam not hateing but i think you were better off with the injen cai it pulling in colder air lower down (of course this is if more performance was your goal) now if you had a hood scoop sitting over that box that would be interesting . or if ARC made a hood with a scoop on one side ..kinda like the hood scoop on the R34 SKYLINE it sits on one side and looks cool. but hey if you like it thats all that counts.

the bad thing about CAI is that if it takes in water, that can ruin the entire engine, and it has happened before.

if i have a hood scoop over this and it rained, isn't it even worse?

this box is functional and i dont feel any power loss.

looks good and its from japan. whats so bad about it

the sti has a hood scoop, the evo has one too do they break down when it rains? it all depends on how its configured...and whats bad about it? hot air travels up , wheres your filter ? on top of the box correct !? no doubt its drawing in more hot air than even the stock airbox that draws it from the side, and who cares what country its made from? if it works it works if it doesnt it doesnt.

Evo's and sti's don't break down when it rains it because the scoop/vent are not drawing air to the airbox which can potentially cause a hydro lock. the sti scoop is for the intercooler.

Hey one question taek, any gain/loss on torque?

yeah i realized after typing it thats the case on the evo and sti , but still hows hot air going to help performance wise? vs colder denser air.

Not a hater, just trying to work out how it got an 8/10 on the teak scale when you said it had no instructions, didn't fit, and when I can't see how it has any improvements.

I don't care where something is made.

I do care that the welds look like a POS, and that it appears to suck air straight from the engine compartment.

I am right in that assumption yes? It doesn't take it from the stock location in the bottom right corner, the bright red thing is the air filter, yes?

I just don't understand how this system benefits the engine, other than the fact that is had a bright red filter with arc written on it (some might say that's a touch ricey).

To each his own, i was just trying to work out why it was good, but now I understand it's the name.

It's "JDM" That's why it costs so much. All of the tiny Japanese people are running around with people's money, buying USDM products for their cars lol.

Good buy taek, Not a Great buy. it is pricey. But arc doesn't claim to make any more power than the other intake brands out there. actually they say it could even produce less numbers at the top end, But more power throughout the power band. And for a guy like me who is mostly interested in Low End performance for things like autocross etc where you spend most of your time in the low end. Something greater throughout the powerband is better than 1 or 2 more HP at 6000 rpm.

regardless of all those bashing on taek, ARC is good quality. and this is exactly why a lot of companies are hesitant to release stuff for the tc becuase tc owners in general are stingy.

zeal probably wont release suspension for the tc becuase most people are going show with their tcs and zeal coilovers are expensive, but aweseome performing.

im glad that endless did make a BBK for the tc. endless is good stuff. yet expensive.

i agree with taek that there HAS to be tcs in japan. just becuase it isnt sold there doesnt mean they cant get it. the car is made in japan after all. and JDM companies are making parts for the tc.

and this JDM bs that alot of you talk about. JDM isnt for everyone. taek is making his car the way HE WANTS. so why do people keep putting him down? taek has good quality parts. he has nothing on his car that isnt top quality and his car is alot better then most tcs on this board.

sick car taek

Come on people, leave the guy alone, if he likes it and he didn't mind spending the money, then that's his thing, plus I'm sure he'll be selling his Injen cold air and will get some money back for that too. I like how the box looks, but I'll have to agree with everyone else, heat soak will deff. kill your power, but either way enjoy .

If this was directed at me, I've not bashed taek in this thread yet. All I am trying to get from someone is how this is "good quality".

it looks like a sloppy welded airbox, that's then chromed or polished with a bright red filter on the top all attached to the stock piping. As has already been explained it doesn't even seem to fit very well.

For everyone who keeps saying it's great, can someone just explain in plain simple words what how this is better than the stock box - apart from the fact that it looks cool and has a name.

I'm not knocking the fact that Taek brought one, and I'm a firm believer in each to his own. But if you want to try and pitch something as good (esp. if you got it from a sponsor and therefore have a obligation) you have to expect people to question the statements.

I just want to understand. That's all.

Well I don't know where this beef is comming from, But street racing is definitly a no no. But this thread is about his ARC box. Wich I personally think is a nice buy... Not to sure if the carb exempt thing applies to the scion tC though. Only thing keeping me from purchasing one.

alrite since people wondering what happened. summed in up in a simple story, taek (tony) wanted to join my friends car club based here in socal. Car club is called Illmatic, and quite frankly one of the top show car clubs here in socal. Anyhow he always asks dumb questions where he knows the answers and to top it off, he always does stupid things on the street like the video of him racing on the street to "showoff" his new parts. anyhow he got caught for wreckless driving and the post im going to link shows how immature this boy is.
