haha i had that sound once... but mine was 10x louder than a jet plane...
my s-pipe bolts came off so i was runnin open header...

ya its not a pretty sound for a street car.. more lik not a pretty sound in general haha


did you literally see gas come out?

and did you mount the AW header in the stock mounts?

well it was like 20 degrees out, so i could see the vapor from the hot gas mixing with the cold air. and no i didn't mount to the stock mounting brackets because the header sits down too far for the bolts to match up.

well thats teh reason why ^^^

you didnt mount the header to anything so its hanging freely...

you shoud go back and mount it. it fits.
some people only did one side like myself and have no problem. others did both.

So mounting it with the stock brackets will prevent it from cracking?

mounting it to the stock bracket will diminish the damage put upon the header through the engine movement.

the bottom mounts are mounts to the engine so the header will move with the engine instaed of against it.

tried for like a hour when i first put the header on, it's too long by about a half inch to an inch, it doesn't line up at all.

did you put the support brackets back on at the bottom? I just took mine back off to fix a stripped bolt but mine wasn't cracked. I had over 10,000 miles on the header.

So if I mount my AW header with the supplied brackets, I should avoid any future cracking or should I still get the flex pipe?

supplied brackets? the only brackets i had were the stock ones. which didn't even come close to lining up.

Hmmm that's odd cause I've been looking into the AW header for some time now and haven't heard of many problems with it lining up to the stock brackets. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I dont think anybody has had good luck with the brackets working. I put them on at first and ended up with one of the bolts breaking

I took them off completely shortly after and havent had any problems. I'm using an engine damper so I probably am not likely to have problems since the engine isnt allowed to move much

This just seems odd that the brackets don't line up, yet they released the product without any modified brackets or support to solve this problem. Is this the case with all aftermarket headers or is it specific to the AW?

I installed a megan header to my TC last week. Nothing but perfect fitment.

The brackets don't match up take a dremel or what you have availble drill or cut the bracket hole a little to make it match up. I had to do it with mine.

well all the people i know with AW header uses the stock bracket and it fits...


maybe you shoud try using only one! many people on SL ended up using one. discussed in old topics.

and for those that didnt line up because you guys might of installed it wrong? or forgot how it went? its lik a puzzle piece. i took a while to figure it out.

but GL to those who dont have a bracket

I am a automotive technition and have been for 9 years I don't think I forgot how something went. I even losen the bracket bolts on the block up to help line it up but AW header didnt line up. It is a QA thing and btw maybe the headers that are having problems might be the first batch released and they fixed it since did that happen to cross your mind!

hmm good point..
but my AW header was the 1st batch and i dont tink AW ever modified there product at all...

i hope something works out for you guys :D
