highvoltage, Intake is an ebay intake piping with aem dryflow filter. but I've had this intake for 4-5 yrs now and never had a problem up until this dumb battery install, even when I did install it I never got a CEL.

Well there was something weird about the install, when we were changing the battery he tells me to turn on the car (with the old batery) and leave the car on while we change out he battery..which was ____ing weird for me, but I figured he's a "toyota mechanic" ill just let him do it. he said the car would stay on but once we unplugged it the car shut off and he said eh whatever and just installed the new one. idk if that would have anything to do with it? just throwing that out there as a cause maybe?

I really hope its nothing crazy. im really worried especially since I gotta go to atlantic city sunday. I can speed up and get up to speed, but if I punch it is when it happens, kinda like a fuel cut off

Your "mechanic" told you to unplug the battery while the car was running? I never heard anyone did that before. Something must got fried or short circuited.

are u going to gamble in Atlantic City? Good luck buddy.

actually un plugging the negative terminal on the battery while car is running is the way to tel whether you have a bad battery or an alternator....if car dies then alt is bad if car stays on then battery is bad...this is ofcours eonly the case if u suspect ur batt or alt is bad

if both are good car statys on

What you should have done is to jumper the battery terminals to another 12 volt battery with some wires or jumper cables when you swapped out the battery with the ENGINE OFF. The alternator probably spiked the voltage to the ECU when you disconnected the battery with the engine running. Jumping it to another battery keeps everything power up so nothing is lost including the radio and ECU. Check your chassis connection to ground from the negative of the battery and wires going to the throttle body motor.

got a call. the car is running great now. idk what the hell he was saying on the phone but he said something about the intake filter being clogged and filthy and it was ripping?, which I don't understand since my car was fine before the battery install and its a 2 month old aem dryflow.

but the car is fine now. thank you everyone for all the suggestions/help. thank you!

lock this up!
