Bent rod????
Ok so about 5-6 months ago i got water through my CAI and my engine shut off, i had to get it towed home and then someone dried off my spark plugs and it worked again. Its been working ever since just with a really loud valve tapping. I took it to a friends shop and he said that it looks like i have a bent rod which is causing the loud tapping/clicking noise. He said that sooner or later my engine will break and i that i need a new engine. Is there anyway i can fix this without getting a whole new engine

1, i dont think ur rod is bent it would be noticable, 2 if it is just get new rods and pistons yes u will need new pistons because if the rod is bent the piston its taking a beating and u wiull need to bore out the cylinder wall

I would imagine so..
Unless you can find a steal on an engine.
Plus it would be a better incase you ever wanted to sell the vehicle.
Personally I think it's shady when someone tells me the body has x number of miles and the engine has x number of miles.

Better for resale if you rebuild, but probably not cheaper. The tC motor is not made to be serviced in vehicle, so any work would mean pulling the motor and transmission. it's a lot less labor to just swap the motor for the new one and not bother with doing teardown, repair and rebuild. Are you looking to do it yourself? If it goes to a shop, I'd guess $1,200+ just for labor, plus the cost of pistons, bearings, rods, etc. A used motor from car-part.com runs $800-1200, and the labor should be around $500, you can swap motors in a day or less with all the right tools.

My friend did this to his civic. He had a tapping noise and we removed the pistons/rods and one of the rods was definitely bent but he did drive it 80 plus miles like that to my house after the incident. We just put in replacement rods and rings and everything worked with just a touch hone.
I think you should just take out the engine and open her up to see what you really have going on. If you are not mechanically inclined then see if you have a friend that will help you otherwise I would say buy a used engine and have a shop just swap it out for the right price.
