Best Oil for 07 tC?

here u go,
Just compare results, u could also look for cars with 2az-fe. Someone posted here on the owners launge not to loong ago the results with Edge and they were pretty impresive given that he was supercharged, look it up. I personaly use Amsoil for my turbo baby and Pennzoil Ultra for my wife's. As far as oil filter M1 Extended Performance/K&N, but will be swaping to PureOne/Bosch here shortly.
If ur looking for good and afordable syntetic try Penzoil Platinum along with a PureOne/Bosch oil filter. U won't regret it. If u got the extra couple of bucks buy Pennzoil Ultra, both are great.

Ive used royal purple for the past 3 oil changes. Switching from mobil 1 im very satisfied. Car is much smoother at idle and throughout overall driving.
I just recently changed from redline to eneos for gear oil. that ____ is amazing. if i could i would use it for oil too but to order it for every oil change is just stupid. I get royal purple at a discounted price so for me its the best choice.

There's also some good opinions here:

I've heard mixed reviews of the Royal Purple products. Some people love them, but I've seen test results that didn't look good at all. Granted, that was a long time ago. Things may have changed since then.
Personally, I stick to Valvoline SynPower, with Castrol or Mobil as my second choices. I've never found enough of a beneficial difference between those and the high-priced racing oils to make them worth while, but I don't really race anymore either. /shrug

i personally like mobil's products.. yeah i know mobil1 isn't a pure synthetic and that mobil1 15,000 is the real synthetic. But with all of their oils it's a solid result and never have to worry that I'd have problems because I never had when using Mobil. Plus Toyota signed a contract with Mobil to supply all their fluids to the Toyota factory as well as the Toyota branded products at the dealer (oils) I do think that some of Toyota's engineers do know what they're requiring for their cars that it isn't all about profit. There is some decent engineering/thought going into the cars. And selecting Mobil is something I completely agree with.

Thanks for the feedback. I will probably go with Castrol after this oil change with RP. Just bought it and then I thought I would ask. Smart right? Wanted people's opinions. I used RP in another car and it worked well so maybe the same in the scion. Castrol is a little cheaper but not as much as I thought it would be so I just spring the extra $.70 a quart for it.

2 things
1. From what I can gather, the general consensus is that you should use 5w20 Royal Purple..if you can afford it. Otherwise, 5w20 Mobile1 full synthetic.
2. Our manual says 5w20. I live in an extreme climate (Kentucky - yes its extreme!) 0 degrees in winter is common and 100-105 in summer is common. What viscosities are a better alternative for me?
