im telling you man....the tanabe medallion touring, megan oe-rs and greddy spectrum elite are your best bet. the trd is okay but imo has this raspy gritty sound compared to other OE style exhausts.

the megan has like no sound at all. At least the trd lets you know there is an exhaust

in idle mode, you can barely hear it when ur next to the exhaust. the more rpm, the louder the exhaust is. when you floor it, it roars beautifully. not too loud, not too quiet.

I have a custom 2.5inch magnaflow performance exhaust from the cat back...sounds really good at high rev rpm. I just put on a electric cutout valve..and lets just say it dosent even sound like a 4cylinder anymore.. sounds like a loud subie...its delicious...ill post a video of the sound when i can, just be ready to change your pants

ok well one more quick question cause i noticed i can probolly get the megan oe-rs catback system for the price of a new trd axelback. and im curious putting the midpipe with the megan does it give it any sound at all. cause i mean from the looks there is no sound out of that thing with the axelback.

Hey Killa, Monday if I have time ill take a video of the custom 2.5inch catback magnaflow with the cutout valve closed. It sounds meaner than the TRD to be honest, ive drove next to one. The magnaflow sounds like just a motor reving..but amplified(according to my friends who drive a vette and GTO) You might wanna check out tsudo or see if corksport sells an axleback for a more beefy cruising sound. But when it comes to sounding good at high rpms..thats what the magnaflow is designed for. And then ill split the clip and show you what it sounds like with the cutout valve open which someone told me today sounds like a subie...he drives a 04 z06. I took out the stock resonator FYI.

yea that works man. would love to hear what that sounds like. as for just basic cruising speeds i have the tsudo axeback installed. reason im switching to trd is because i want somthing more stock looking. so i can stop getting random looks from the cops.

This thread is very biased from people chiming in with the exhausts that they have. Naturally, people are going to like what they have and they are going to advertise it as being your best option.

With that being said, it's ok to hear what people have to say, just make sure that in the end it's something you want and not something you have been persuaded to buy.

And if I could give my .02, adding a mid-pipe with the Megan OE will not give it a noticeable difference.

If you want the closest possible OEM looking exhaust out there then it definitely is TRD hands down, nothing can compare to the OEM look like the TRD, but if you want to gain more noticeable sound with your exhaust and have it still look somewhat OEM, there are other options out there.

And if financial reasons are why you're holding back on a certain exhaust, then wait and save up. If it's something you really want, it will be worth it in the end.

^^^ yea def what you said does help out alot. i mean mine really is kinda financial reason for certian ones. but thing that is stopping me from buying one now. is there is just so many to choose from. right now i have like 5 different ones i want but cant decide

my choices:

tanabe touring medallion
trd
greddy spectrum elite
dc sports
megan oe-rs
apexi world sport 2

im just stuck on which i want. all are great looking exhaust just stuck on which i want. thats why im giving it a month or so to try and decide.

I have a TRD exhaust with an Injen CAI and it sounds real nice. Everyone I know loves the sound of the exhaust and I've never had someone say somthing bad about it. It's not super loud or ricey sounding, but when you roll by someone they can definantly tell that car has something extra in it. It may be more expensive than the other brands but your car will sound nice and you'll keep your warrenty if for some reason somthing goes wrong due to the exhaust.
