Built motor tc's chime in
Hey guys, I have been thinking about building my motor up with some better internals and was wondering what people have used for all the parts.
Also what would the total cost be?
And what would I expect it to handle hp wise?
Is it worth it?
Is it worth boreing(sp) it out?
This would go into a 09 tc with fi done if I decide to go through with the build...

I just read that a lot of the stock parts should be fine up to around 400-420whp with a good tune, so Im thinking I will just buy the rods for now and if anything else goes il just buy that since I only want around 400whp anyways..
My other question is how much does the stock 5speed handle?

where did you read that? The stock internals start to go around 350hp most commonly..of course a lot of factors play in that but thats usually the place where people start to worry about build.

I have 2 built motors now for my tC. One is strictly race and the other is for everyday driving. both my motor use the same turbo setup a GT-35R. One motor cost $8K FULLY BUILT and sleeved, one block was $2K fully built, but not sleeved.
All depends on what specs you are going with. Small turbo, small modifications, Big Turbo, big mods.
Street wise if your looking for anything over 300WHP, Pistons, Rods, Vavletrain, Clutch are an absolute MUST for reliablity.

Well I was hoping for around 400whp, but i think i might just buy a turbo kit for now and run it around 10-12psi. And then buy myself a 240 or something for the weekends and races. because with that much power there will be a lot of wheel spin on a fwd car.
