Default CAI idea.

Pardon the crappy photoshop
instead of putting the CAI pipe down in the wheel well (ie. aem and k&n) how about putting the filter down in front of the trans. there is a huge open space down there by the splash guard. the maf could be mounted at the top of the pipe aproxamatly the same distance from the TB as stock. Problems could be water ingestion, and low air pressure. however I think that compared to the filter placement of other CAI's in the wheel well air flow should be comparable.

Discuss.

Too funny.

Good thought, but wouldn't that put the filter a tad bit close to the exhaust manifold??

Good idea but it's right next to the exhaust manifold which creates tons of heat.

It wouldn't be a CAI it would be a HAI Hot Air Intake. It would get heat soaked because of the manifold and the fans pulling the hot air out of the radiator.

I wasnt thinkin of putting the filter right behind the radiator. it would be bent over towards the wheel well and behind the bumper. like I said befor the pic sucks. if you go pop your hood you'll see where I'm talkin about. I have yet to see the filter location on the k&n but I think it may be in the same place I'm thinkin about.

yeah, but that's getting in the way of an intercooler

but I was thinking the same thing, you could easily snake an un-restrictive CAI down there, I saw the same exact thing when I opened up my hood and took out the plastic vent cloggers in the foglight spaces
