Default Cali Legal Headers?

Hey everyone, I can't find any headers for our cars that are CARB legal for California.
I got busted with a $700 ticket already for the Headers and Intake so was wondering if they even make them for the tC??

Otherwise ill need to find Celica ones and steal the tag

The only CARB legal "header" is the OEM exhaust manifold. The cops know this too, so even if you put a Celica one on, it wont work (besides not fitting)..

The whole reason why no Header is CARB legal (except the OEM) is that none of them have a catalytic converter (as the OEM one has).
It is against the law to remove smog controls from a vehicle, and by swapping to a Header which does not have a catalytic converter is removing the one the car came with.
(the reason why they don't have those in the aftermarket headers is because it would restrict performance)

As already stated, none other than OEM. $700? That sucks. GL.

Wow, you must have been speeding as well or something...

My emissions ticket is only 280 for Intake and Header but I wasn't speeding or anything.

You have to put the stock header back on and go to the state referee, just leave it that way cuz it makes any exhaust sound way better. the gains are definitely not worth it.

Sorry man, no CARB legal header.

man, i thought it was just a fix it ticket, where u swap it back out to stock get a cop to sign it off and its $10?

lol i have 4 exhaust tickets that were only $10...

and there is no more ref station anymore due to all the cut backs, now u just need an officers signature... at least as far as ive heard and seen thats how it is

aftermarket header is not CARB legal...aftermarket intake is not CARB legal...if you want to get away with the header...then you need to put the stock header cover back on over it with a little fabrication and they will never know otherwise

If you get popped for emissions its a non correctable violation and you have to go to the referee. I went last week so they are still open down here in SoCal. IDK why they would close them in NorCal the State probably makes a lot of money on these emissions tickets.

My Exhaust ticket is $25 I think. everything went up in 09. supergay.

Yeah, it was 680 plus the ten dollar court processing fee, I had the Headers swapped, the intake swapped and the baffle out of the exhaust, cops here are ____ed up, took pics of everything, but they make CARB legal headers for a lot of other cars,
I was thinking of taking Celica headers with a CARB legal tag and rigging the tag up on some headers of my own but yeah I guess i could also just mount the OEM heat shield onto them and maybe wrap them in pipe wrap or something =)

lol thats funny, cause i got my last exhaust ticket like 3 weeks ago, and all i needed was a signature and $10 at the court, all done.

and seeing as how i have friends and family in all sorts of law enforcement it makes it nice to get a ticket signed off, just need to make a phone call, and i myself am working on getting into the sheriffs dept or chp...

i had a cold air intake and the cop told me to pop my hood.. i made it seem like i bought the car that way and i had no idea.. he told me they can boost that ticket up to $1200 just for having a cai LOL so i sold it

OH SNAP! .... man I feel your pain.... Damn that's highway robbery! Makes you wonder who the real criminals are! those damn dirty apes....why cant they leave the modders alone and go track down killers, rapists, drug dealers and such?

the only course of action I can see working for you is this.... did the company that sold you the parts disclose to you that they were racing parts and not for street use?
I know all of us on here know those parts are not street legal...BUT if the company that you bought them from did not disclose that info to you and you can prove it... that might give you a fighting legal leg to stand on.

Sh*t no wonder so many people are leaving Cali.... damn that's harsh. And what makes Cali cops so versed in car mods anyways?
