Camry V6 in a tC????
As a Scion Salesman I see tons of Camrys and the occassional tC when I can get my district manager to allocate them to me. I also know the specs on both and got to thinking. Sometimes thinking can be dangerous and since today has been a brutally slow sales day ive been doing a lot. Does anybody know if you can put a V6 Camry engine into a tC?? Theoretically it should be possible. All the right specs are the same as far as I could tell in my short investigation into the idea. Just wondering if anybody has ever done the full investigation on the matter. V6+tC=FUN (aka speeding tickets and court dates)

Well since you have the specs on both of them, try finding out how wide and how long the V6 is. And if the day is really slow for you than just pop the hood on both cars and look to see if you can find where the engine mounts where.
I'd rather wait for the IS350 V6.

If you want to be sure just look at other cars that fit a similar engine to the 1.5 or a V6 similar to the Camry V6. If there is something that matches your in. Also check to see that the two Transmitions are interchangable. When you check, be sure it isn't a one way swap. eg You can use the 4 cil tranny on the V6 but not the other way around. You may find that you have to do a full drive line swap.
This is why I like RWD, full drive line swaps are easy. Easy being a relitive term.

I think an engine swap would be more fun than just adding a turbo. Itd be a great learning experience and youd be pleased for quite some time when youre fooling people all over the streets. But I guess you could say the same for a turbo so its all fun and games.

Yes, I am nuts. Not afraid to admit it. Its not that I think the stock engine is bad. Like I said, I was really bored and thought about the swap as an interesting concept. Would be awesome if somebody had already done it.[/quote]

I looked at this last spring. I guess I get bored more easily. Anyway, you have to go slushbox, you have to rewire a considerable part of the car, and it's unlikely either the OEM Scion axles or the OEM Camry axles will bolt up without issues. It might require some kind of hybrid on the axles alone to get into the car. Then, just looking at the orientation and layout of the V-6 made it appear just short of impossible for lack of room behind the engine in the tC. That was my take anyway, just doing a quick side-by-side comparison. I was pretty much finished anyway when the slushbox requirement jumped up.
