Default Car having probs starting

its an 05 tc. battery is good. cranks over but wont start, then starts maybe on like the 7th or 8th try. when i bought it it made a weird noise once after started for a half a second. thought nothing of it, car has 56K. cranks over slower and slower w each try until finally barely starting... really weird. not really a big car guy. is it starter ? alternator ? something else ? oh the guy who had it before me blew the clutch, and the mechanic i had take a look at the car said there are clutch material pieces stuck in something yadda yadda.

help me out

How do you know the battery is good? Has it been tested anywhere?

I would think maybe it's the starter or the solenoid on the starter? I know there's two pieces there that can be affected.

your battery could be bad... just cause you charge it doesnt promise you its a good battery,,,, take it iouti and have it checked at a parts store.. if battery checks out good... next go to the starter and starter solenoid... i mean the car is only 2-3 years old...i would be pretty surprised if the starter went...

yeah usually the batteryis the main culprit in these newer cars, quality in parts being better and better now.. if not is there a warranty still on your car?

get a load test on the battery.. Charging the battery is pointless when it comes to diagnosing a load problem. It can show good voltage but fail when it comes to supplying enough current (AMPS). Remember Amps is what starts the car, not the voltage (for the most part).

Get a load test, you'll find you have a bad battery.

Unless you did something to void it, the drive train warranty is still valid.(5yrs 60k miles)

he doesn't know.. he bought the car used...

from all the threads he started, it looks like the previous owner abused the car quite a bit and sold the problems to him.

the car was fine when i bought it. well i also live in ohio and bought the car from florida. i bought it from an old guy who bought it from an insurance company, and i paid only 8000 for it sooooooo i got an amazing deal. it is expected that ____ like this would happen. i was just really upset that it all started happening at once thats all. car is all fixed now with a new starter. thanx every one tho
