There shouldn't have been any black smoke after install. You should have that looked at because thats not normal! Check your oil level, and all your other liquids. Make sure you weren't burning anything. Also make sure everything you installed is sealed properly.

it's more than likely the header. it allows MUCH more air to be registered on the O2 sensor

^^If anything it would be the header, intakes don't cause cars to run rich.

nono. i installed my intake on tuesday, the first of the three. and that entire day after i installed the intake, my car was losing gas like mad. running rich is using too much gas so...yeah there's that

but its still exiting the engine at the same speed.. which measures the same amount of oxygen in the exhaust and tells the computer it doesn't need to make the fuel mixture more rich.

i would think its a coincidence with the CAI

You were loosing gas like mad, because you were hitting the gas like mad once you had your intake installed.

hahah shoot man, after i realized my gas was draining, i tried to drive conservatively. what a pain in the a$$ hahaha.

its okay now, my gas is running well cuz the ECU has gotten used to it. but now my engine check light came on.. *sigh* lol

^ You need to get that looked at if you can't find anything wrong, because it shouldn't be on. Chances are you just threw a censor but still. Intake will effect the MPG at all, if anything you might lose half a mile off the "average" mpg, so i would have to agree with the others in that your foot got heavy! lol

Nothing you have done should make your car run that rich, and if you are running rich you need to have someone look at it.

I'm still waiting for videos!! I still think its probably because your not use to driving a car with I/H/E, but who knows. Get the video/clip and i'll shut up if its loud.

obviously, I/H/E will definantly make any car loud as possible... exhaust will overcome all the sounds and header/intake brings it further...

i got I/H/with resistor chip and i does not sound that loud, but enough to let people notice theres something in the hood (intake).... and you know what? my car IDLEs hard, oh yea, damper kit and maybe the resistor chip is really shakin my car... i think my car is gonna fall apart hahaha... i just need zMAX to clean the car up abit and ill wont worry as much...

My alphawerks/blitz exhaust combo is pretty loud too. I'm thinking of just installing a more efficient resonator to replace the stock one to keep the airflow but lower the db level. Then I'll be happy.

i used to have the dc headers and injen exhaust with a custom 2 and half inch mid pipe , no resonator....OMG THAT WAS THE LOUDEST AND MOST ANNOYING THING EVER!....great pick up and all but was not worth the sound to me. after that i sold the headers and kept the exhaust...it sounds great. the best i have ever heard. but i sold the headers because i got the zpi turbo kit coming....hopefully soon......so i know ill be MUCH FASTER!......cant wait.....but wanna still hear this vid...i love the popping sounds....
