Default Cheap intake

http://www.customtc.com/coldair.htm

I saw this and im pretty interested as it is way cheaper than any other one i have found. Anyone know if this site is legit and if this intake is worth purchasing? Thanks im new to modding my car and dont want to get scammed.

looks like an old intake i had and all the mounts broke so it rattled like a biscuit. Idk if it's the same one but you should check out the "HPS" intake on ebay there are a few threads on here where ppl try it out and like it

theyre all the same. i had the injen, and i hated it. i just modded my stock airbox and got better results. you're probably better off doing that then spending 100+ dollars on a noise maker because thats all they are haha

check out dr isotopes GFI (ghetto fab intake) it's pretty interesting.

I had the HPS one and it is definitely legit. I was impressed with the coupling and band clamp quality. Very nice. It resembled what came in my Turbonetics turbo kit! It is cheap as well and worked like a charm. The MAF sensor fit perfectly and I never got any rattles or anything. Just a nice tone from under the hood

The one in that link looks pretty shady. It's got the crappy band clamps and the silicone hose couplers don't seem to be thread reinforced. It looks like they raided the DIY Honda Intake section at Autozone... The HPS is much better than that one but all in all performance gains, probably not much of a difference. I'd take a Fujita before that.

yea that intake from what i read about it is cheaply made. i wouldnt even take a chance on it. i orginally asked the same question about that intake before i was looking for one. customtc.com is a legit site ive purchsed a few things from them. just that intake just doesnt seem to be built very good. if i was you i wouls just look at the forsale section here or ebay and try and find one. like me i was going to pick up the injen. but found a trd intake pretty cheap on here.

^ my boms mounting locations were all off, but A little ghetto rigging, and it all worked out. Glad I didn't spend 300 for the same thing with a different name

i never use the mounting locations, connect to TB, attach the tube to the block, attach MAF and lower pipe and youre good to go

yup. That's why I wasn't too mad. Had it been an expensive/important mod to my engine, I'd go with a more reputable company for quality, but for a CAI, a tube is a tube.

for higher end intakes you area paying for the name, filter, and mount quality,my buddy has been using a $70 ebay intake for over a year now and not aproblem, came with a good filter even,it mounted up perfect, and has not broken......his MAF was a pain to install cause the threads were a bit chunky and not tapped cleanly, but other than that it is fine.

the hps is a rip off of the injen so it has 3" piping, with the little gains you'd get from an intake i'd go for the hps.

the more i look into intake, i realize that theres pretty much no difference at all between the one i posted at $70 and the $300 injen one. Pretty sure ill just save myself some money and get the $70 one without the name brand on it. ANy thoughts on this?

It's good to save money, but at the same time when you buy a cheap part, its a knock off of one that was put through R&D, and your endorsing the cheaper companies.

^^I agree with that, I would never buy that intake the op posted, it just looks horrible. However I think the hps intakes are well made and good quality and are a lot cheaper than injen.
