Default Clanking squeeking noise from Tsudo exhaust

Firstly, thanks for opening and trying to help. Here's the problem.

I just recently put on a Tsudo N1 exhaust and I have a clanking/sputtering noise at idle ONLY when the car is in gear. This seems to go away when I get on the gas, but when I'm at a light or pulling through a parking lot it's pretty annoying. I can feel this coming from right below my feet.

I also have a squeekig noise that I get anytime, at any speed. This seems to be coming from more in the middle of the car. I can hear this when I close/slam my door as well.

Also, after I turn the car off, I get a noise from about the same spot as the clanking. It sounds like the clicking your engine does after you run the hell out of it, but it's a quicker multiple clicks.

Any ideas?

yeah i agree...just make sure that it is mounted correctly and that all the bolts are on tight. the clanking sound could be coming from the rear section though near the axle...theres a piece of metal in the center that comes straight down...the axleback part of the exhaust may not be mounted correctly and be banging against that piece...you'll hear it up front just as loud

I think its coming from the heatshield in the middle. I'm not 100% sure though. I'll check all of that stuff tomorrow. Thanks guys. It just sucks lol.

it def is from your heatshield! I had to get under and redo mine today...heres all you do

1.) take off resionator
2.) unbolt the first bolt on the heatshield
3.) take a dremmal to the screw
4.) place the heatshield back up and zip tie the heatshield on (atleast until you find another source to get it to stay)

that's all i did, it is SOO annoying to hear that when your at a stop light. Also I had to take it to midas to get them to bend the hangers because it melted my rear lip and now i have to order another! Good luck

So your noise is gone for sure after you took care of the heat shield???

I bent the hanger down on the tailpipe so it wouldn't melt it. I'm not going to be able to mess with this again until Sunday, which means 2 more days of this which sucks.

Yeah it's 2 more days of that unbearable noise! but yes it's a bolt and nut under there so you'll have to take care of it, see the reason i have a zip tie is because i was so tired of dealing with it i just wanted it back up and running. so i'll get back under and place another item there. Do you have any shaking problems? because it seems like at around 40 mph it kinda shakes

I fixed my exhaust clicking noise yesterday , check your rear hangers, they sometimes touch with a metal back there.. I found this out yesterday.

if that isnt the problem then recheck everything man.

I'm about to go do all of this now, it rained all day yesterday. I don't notice any shaking at all when I'm driving, but if I walk to the back and kinda nudge the tip with my foot it makes the squeaking noise up front. That's why I asked about the hangers being too big for the exhaust hangers. I'll post back tonight or tomorrow and let y'all know the results.

OK, I got the new bolt put in and that fixed the sputtering at idle. I also bent the hangers on the midpipe to pull the pipe away from the heatshield. The only problem that I have is that when I first get on the gas slowly, I get a grinding noise and it sounds like its coming from in front of me.

It's kinda in front of me and down.

Here's the main problem:

After going about 45mph for a little bit I start to get this rattle/grinding noise by my feet. Then I get off onto a side road and no matter how slow I'm going, it continues. It doesn't do it if I just stay on side roads and go 30-40 without going any faster first. The other day I took off from a stopsign and the car seemed to shut down for a second. This leads me to believe that there's a baffle broken somewhere, and my thought was in the cat. I took it to Toyota today and they said the only problem is my exhaust is hitting my heatshield and I'm like "why did my car shut down the other day" and he has no response for me. There is a chance that there is a baffle messed up in my resonator on my exhaust (if it has any), but I don't have a number to reach Tsudo at to inquire about this and possible getting a new midpipe. I don't want to get rid of the exhaust, but I'm about to the point of going back to stock.

06tCpimpn - Is your problem still gone? What did you put up there in place of the zip tie?

I had a similar problem with clicking exhaust with my Tsudo set-up too. Come to find out all I did was replace the bolts they gave me back with the stock toyota ones that have the springs on them and the noise went away. Also the bracket that comes off the rear pipe under the rear cross member, I bolted that to the cross member itself to get the noise of those two pieces hitting over bumps.

See if any of that info helps you out!!! Good luck!!!

OK, problem solved....it was a nut/bolt on the heatshield. I also got the second part of the silencer out just by pulling it with vicegrips lol. It freed it up more than I thought and made it louder than I was expecting. Still very happy with it and am making a trip from STL to the Ozarks this week, so we'll see if it gets on my nerves lol. Thanks everyone for your help.

yeah im having this problem tooo started my own thread to but im hoping you guys can help me. Im runing on stock headers ->Nvidia Downpipe -> Tsudo Midpipe -> OEM axleback . For sure i kno alot of the loud rattling is coming from the pipe hitting the heatshield screw. But r you guys sure that was it? BEcuase what is UTownMAtt talking about? Cross Member? Is there something i dont know about? Also My tanabe will be coming in on the 17th So hopefully the new axleback will give it more room . Becuase i remember when i was installing the OEM axleback , back onto the tsudo midpipe, I had to push up the midpipe significantly, Just to make the oem axleback fit onto that better. Well anyway any glad would be appreciated, becuase the rattling i experience in my morning drive to work is totally unexplainable. Itz wtv u guys have X10 feels like if i dont fix this soon ima drill a hole into my midpipe or something will break. Lol anyway when i do get on the gaspaddle the car sounds better and the rattle isnt as bad wen the car has been driven for awhile.

Thanks -Tony
