Default Cleaning air intake HELP!

I just took apart my front bumper to gain access to my Injen CAI air filter. I am about to clean it, but what is the best way? Do I just spray it with a hose and clear off all the dirt? If I get it wet how long to wait until it is dry and safe to drive? Please give advice! Thanks!

you need a filter charger kit that includes filter cleaner and oil. you can order one from injen. your local auto parts store may or may not have one, or you try a speed shop. i used injen's kit, and i let it dry for a couple hours. it was still damp, but the oil is hydrophobic, meaning it gets rid of the water. i just let the oil do its job, then dried the excess water out of the inside of the cone with a paper towel.

Sorry to threadjack, but can you use the K&N cleaner and oil to clean an Injen filter?

I am getting ready to install an Injen on mine, and I currently just have a K&N Air Filter.

^ yup, its fine. I clean mine with the k&n cleaner. oh, and you don't need to take the bumper off to get to the filter.

I just used a compressor and sprayed it to get rid of any particles... is that not enough?

Excuse my ignorance, but why would blowing it off with high velocity wind be a bad idea? When I looked at the filter there was like nothing on it, hardly a particle at all. What does the K&N kit do?

k&N kit has two bottle.. a cleaner and the oil... you spray the cleaner on the intake... wait a minute.. then wash it out... FROM THE INSIDE!!!! with a hose or at your sink...

then dry it... it will take 4-5 hours..

usually i put it outside so the sun/wind will hit it..

then oil it but not too much because if its dripping then you will have to repeat the whole cleaning process.. then install it.

high velocity air at a gauze filter... hmm... ripping the filter? causing certain parts of the filter to open up and cause larger particles to pass thru?

it's very much possible... and there are are specific directions not to do so (during the drying process anyway)

CAUTION: THE USE OF ANY OTHER DRYING METHODS (I.E. COMPRESSED AIR, DRYER HEATERS, HEAT GUNS) COULD DAMAGE FILTER.
