Default Clunking into 2nd gear

Hi all. Lately, I have noticed that when I am driving the car somewhat hard, it makes an odd clunking noise. If I rev 1st gear up to about 4K and then shift to 2nd and hit the gas hard as i'm coming off the clutch, at that moment, I hear a clunking noise (for lack of a better word) that sounds like its coming from underneath me. Anybody know what this is or have/had this problem? Thanks for any help...i don't wanna see the dealer!!!

~Jay

no, not at all. the clunking is after the shifter is in 2nd - i've driven stick for a while and I am shifting very nice and smoothly. The problem occurs after the shifter is in 2nd and as my foot is going down on the gas and coming up off the clutch - at that exact moment

Put the car on a lift and see what parts of the suspension and drivetrain have some play in them. Replace those parts. Don't forget to have a good look at the inner CVJ.

Exhaust piping hitting a crossmember or maybe the S-pipe? If I get wheel hop, my S-pipe bangs on the engine crossmember which is pretty obnoxious.

I get a clunk when i shift hard cause i still have the stock motor mounts and the DC front sway bar is inches from the top of the engine.

I too have the stock motor mounts and the dc front strut tie bar. I haven't put in any special s-pipe or anything like that. In fact, the only mod under the hood is the dc front tie bar (at least that would make any difference). I did have to move the sensor a little bit from hitting the bar when I first got it because it was hitting. Maybe when I accelerate hard the engine shifts that much that it hits the bar again? I could just move the sensor some more.

There was no wheel hop in the particular instances that I am talking about here, although I don't usually accelerate THAT hard where my wheels jump.

Do you all think that this is something that I should have looked at or just ignore it in the rare instance that it occurs?

That would just be that sensor hitting something again huh? I'm having trouble moving that sensor any farther away than it already is. I will try again, but anybody have any advice as to moving the sensor (stock air system)? Hopefully that will do it, if not, i'll be back!
