kid, r u kidding me???? you said your clutch went out at 50k!!!!!!! OBVIOUSLY, there was some issue there. it should have lasted twice as long.

and contrary to your first reply, if the clutch grabs, then its not "time for a new one".

the only time you need to replace the clutch is if its slipping.
lol my clutch was DEAD i didnt say that it grabbed when i had to replace it, infact i could start the car WITHOUT pressing on the clutch. it slipped every gear and tehn boom i couldnt drive. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out i needed a new clutch. and yea teh clutch went at 50k remember the part i said abnout it being my first standard car. i learned on that clutch. so the first 15-20k miles where kinda rough ill admit it it look me a little longer then i wanted to get driving stick down pat but i got it now.
my point was, if your clutch went out at 50K, then you're doing something wrong.

you said "i thought the stock clutch was nice.... it was nice and smooth i didnt see anything wrong with it"

How could it be a nice and smooth clutch, if you burned it out in 50k??? I learned stick on a 92 mazda protege on which i was the 3rd owner. It had 125,000 still on original clutch. I learned on that car and the clutch still lasted another 25 or 40K.

it just occured to me that someone who burned out a clutch shouldn't be talking about how nice and smooth the clutch is.... especially since you have no reference for comparison. whereas, i, on the other hand, used to work at a service station where i drove stick cars of basically every make under the sun.....and i can say based on that experience, the tc's clutch system (not necessarily the clutch disc itself, mind you) SUCKS.

well i do have things to compare it to u dont know what i drove. i have driven a manual focus (06), a manual VW Rabbit (0, manual Subaru Forster, impreza, baja, and legacy. i have driven manual corollas and hondas. i have driven many manual cars, im justs saying i learned on teh car and had a couple rough times. thats nice that you learned on an older car. if i had the opportunity i would have too. but i didnt.

2 questions:

1) did u burn out the clutches on all those other cars you "drove" too?

2) if you've got so much experience driving stick, how come you managed to burn out the tc's clutch so fast?

The easiest way to burn out a clutch quickly is to ride the clutch, i.e. rest your foot on the pedal while you drive. It shoulc be 100% up or 100% down
