I hope it's true too . I spoke with our Scion rep. about the AEM last week . He told me it did not look to good for it ever becoming avail. My understanding after speaking to AEM and Injun both is when they design one that will pass C.A.R.B cert they have to use the carbon pre-filter setup in the stock airbox and by doing that they can't get any hp gains . AEM is under contract with Scion so you won't see one direct from them that is non C.A.R.B. exempt till that contract time is up .
Till then we have started stocking the K&N Cold air intake . Its not C.A.R.B. exempt or covered under Scion warranty but at least it is avail.

well that would normally be the case... however, you may have problems considering its not a street legal mod...
and I don't just mean it doesn't have a carb eo... I mean technically you can't drive with it on the streets...

Why would you want the AEM intake?
1. the gains from the AEM CAI were the least out of any intake currently out.
2. you can install their bypass valve on any intake system (made by any company)..
3. it's the most expensive out of all of them.
4. K&N has been around longer then AEM.
K&N or WR > AEM

IT dosn't look good for the cold air intake from AEM so far, All the designs that will pass CARB ,do not have enough HP gains to make it worthwhile to sell or install .
that was directly off mcgeorge.com
looks like the AEM might be scratched...K&N is there for 233

what can happen to you if you install a non CARB exempt intake on your car in california? like if you go into the dealer for an oil change and they open the hood and see your intake, can they report you to the CARB or something?
