Default converting CAI to SRI

i've read on this forum that the TRD CAI can be converted to SRI. this seems to make sense because its all just screw-clamped together anyway and the conversion would just mean removing a portion of piping and clamping the filter down just before the bypass valve. im considering doing this for several reasons.

1) easier to clean the filter
2) ive heard its louder which is a plus for me
3) it doesn't really make any power one way or the other.
4) harder to hydrolock since the filter will be up in the engine bay instead of down in the fender

thoughts? anyone tried this out?

well if its anything like the injen then it should work
plenty of people run SRI setups.. go for it if you want it to be louder

cheers guys. although i do enjoy the loudness of SRI set-ups, most of my motivation is the safeguarding against hydrolocking (it has a bypass valve, but you can't ever be too safe), and the ease of cleaning my filter (another can't be too safe kinda thing).

It doesnt rain that much in VA, all you got to do is take the wheel off and pull the fender liner off to get to the filter. You do that while you rotate your tires.

Injen and the funny thing is I had fitment issues with the intake. After weeks of complaining, I finally got Injen to send me a new intake arm. I might just buy a filter and slap this intake onto my car since its free.

ironically, the reason im asking is because im rotating my tires tommorow and since ive thinking about this for a little while, i figure ill do that since ill have the car in the air anyway. i think ill do just because i really like my car to make some noise. we're going into winter anyway, cooler air all the time.

You will probably enjoy it a lot more. Its way more practical. I can install the intake in less then 15 minutes.

hydrolocking doesnt happen unless you make your car go swimming!

BUT SWIMMING IS SO MUCH FUN!

not exactly..sticky situation. I had to complain for a while in order to get the dummy at customer service to send me a replacement. He was being an poohead in the beginning but when I told him I broke the sensors trying to remove the intake arm..I made him feel guilty. Long story short, I was like "YOU ARE A BAD MAN FOR MAKING ME BREAK MY SENSOR" and then he was like,"Im sorry im a poohead..here I will send you a new intake arm" and then I was like, "thats right..poohead." So I got just an intake arm with a new welded bracket. No filter so its pointless and the sensors on my girls ride is broken but still usable. Any who, I might stick this one on my ride. Anyone who is planning on buying an injen intake will run into the same problem I had.

On our website for the Injen CAI you can get a picture of it being converted down to a SRI

http://www.trdsparks.com/install/SP2114inst.pdf

Click on that link for the instructions. You can see the SRI picture in the middle of the instructions.
