Default Coolant Level Low

My coolant level is low in my tC and I was wondering if it was OK just to add more coolant to the reservior or do I have to do a complete flush? Is this something that Toyota will cover for free? My car is still under warranty.

Thanks in advance.

yea..they should fill the coolant for free..
but flushing the coolant is not covered under warranty....
i guess you drive alot on high RPMs.,..cause it will burn your coolant...

hmm, on a normal day to day basis, i take it slow. shift at 3K rpm. but there are rare times when i do take it up to redline. but i'll take it into toyota so then can fill it up for me.

i also have a question. i hear people saying the engine coolant can last for 100k but in the scheduled maintenance guide that comes with the car it says to do a flush at 15,000k and i'm at 15017 rite now. so do i flush it or am i good?

hmmm...actually...on my service invoices from my dealership, it says "top off all fluids except brake fluid and toyota long life coolant". so no, it isn't covered in my case.

you don't need a radiator flush, it is coolant in a radiator, it cycles water around to cool the engine. it isn't a lubricant like power steering or transmission fluid.

coolant has additives that deteriorate over time, getting fresh fluid in there will minimize deposits.

I use 50/50 mix with redline wetter water, and a 160 therm. needle lives on the second line from the bottom

The supercharger install requires a flush, so that should have a basic example of how to perform the flush.

(car must be cold) Remove the rad. cap. Then on ther driver side top of the rad. right by the neck you will see a white petcock...white wingnut...white valve...(whatever you would like to call it) turn this a few turns out. Now, get a catch pan under the car to catch the fuild in the next few steps. Find the second white petcock driver side bottom of rad. turn it out. This releases fluid from the bottom of the rad. without removing the hoses. After the fluid has drained, move your catch pan over to the engine block. Down by the AC compressor and oil stick you will see a valve sticking out of the block line your catch pan up with it ... take a 10mm box wrench and turn the end few times out... this is draining fliud from the block... when it has fully drained you can remove the hoses without too much fluid going all over. then remove the two rad. bracket bolts and out comes the rad. (To flush the rad. you don't have to remove the hoses or rad. just adding a little extra fyi.)
