Coolant type for the tC
I am ready to switch my hoses to the Samco silicone hoses and I am not sure what coolant is compatiable.
I looked in the back of the owners manual to see what kind of coolant our tC's take. The manual says "Toyota Super Long Life Coolant." Not a really big help
I looked at the over flow catch tank, and it does look red, but I would like to know what I can use, and may not have to buy at dealer at top dollar.
Let me know what people are using
Thanks-Scott

I had the same question so i went to my mechanic. He told me that it uses the "good stuff". Its a coolant that is redish not green! I was interested because that was new to me. I think that it come with the red coolant from the factory because he stilled some of the radiator fluid just to show me and it was red. DONT MIX THEM THOUGH! Dont put the green stuff since there made out of different compounts, it'll mess up your radiator.

Im not sure but it was orangish now that i think about it. Its more expensive the the green coolant. You cant mistake it. They only make 2 kinds... orange and green. As long as you get the orange stuff you should be ok.

our coolant is RED.. not orange or green
The Toyota red is very different than the orange and green.. if you do decide on using something else.. you must flush your entire radiator system with fresh water.. i dunno much about switching them... but i would just stick with the red stuff. you can buy them at the dealer or ask around.. "toyota red coolant" should work if you ask for it.

Thanks for the site^^^
I gave in and called the dealer and it is a pinkish/red coolant type. For a gallon of the fun stuff $15.49. so a little cheaper then the above web-site.
weird that the dealer is cheaper for a change

WHY IS SCION COOLANT PINK OR BLUE IN COLOR?
Since coolant is poisonous if swallowed, we dye coolant so that it cannot be mistaken for water. Otherwise, there is no special significance to the color choice. Aftermarket coolants can typically be found in yellow-green, blue or orange. (Toyota Super Long Life coolant requires first replacement at 100,000 miles.)
