Custom mid pipe?
So after searching for a while for a megan mid pipe, my search has run dry. All the websites ive tried to get it from all told me the same thing!!! Its on backorder from megan racing, and it will be 2-3 weeks before they get any units in. So i said forget it and im going with custom piping!
Im wondering if anyone here has experience or knowlege about custom exhaust piping. Im going to a shop to get it done, and i wanna know what i should tell them to fab up for me. My current exhaust is the TRD.
CA law says they cant remove the cat, so that has to stay. My quesion is, will replacing the stock resonator with a shorter one, or possibly a straight pipe make the TRD louder? I want it to sound like the megan mid pipe+TRD exhaust, but seeing as the megan replaces the cat with a "fake" one, im wondering with my stock cat will the exhaust note sound decently loud?
Any input on this is greatly appeciated!

all you have to do is remove the resonator, replace it with a 2.25" pipe and you will get the sound you want.
it will sound very good from what i have seen, so i would go ahead and do it.
i just removed my resonator on my midpipe, and i have the Greddy DT exhaust and now the exhaust sounds awesome imo, its relatively loud, but only when im downshifting, or redlining.
btw, i do have some rasp, however its ONLY at start up, after about a minute or two once the pipes are warm the rasp is gone.

thanks a lot for your input!
i was thinking of putting a really small resonator in place of the huge stock one. i wonder if that would eliminate the rasp you're talking about?
i guess ill have to ask the shop to try different configurations with it...
