Does an Custom/Aftermarket Intake add any noticeable power?
Hey everyone, the name is Ouzi. I hopped on this forum to learn more about what I can do with my Scion tC. I am currently a college student and am new to the car scene.
I decided to use my 4spd auto 06' Scion tC as a learning platform for learning more about cars. The car is currently stock with the addition of a Spec D Exhaust unit.
I'm looking forward to the words of wisdom from the community lol. Sorry if I'm being so nooby!
My first question would be, does an Custom/Aftermarket Intake add any noticeable power given that the tC is suppose to have about 160 according to internet specs?

I am going to say no, for the money it does not add any noticeable power and if anything just sound. On our engines, an intake doesn't do much like on some other vehicles, the stock intake is designed pretty well.
I have a Magnaflow Cat-back exhaust with the stock intake and AEM dry flow panel filter. Doesn't feel any different but the intake sound changed a bit. I should also note that when I bought my car, the previous owner removed the carbon filter element at the top of the stock airbox (inside). I have read that some people felt that removing it felt less restrictive but I will never know and when I get smogged I hope I pass.

If an aftermarket intake changes your air flow volume, you may need to modify your exhaust accordingly. Even then, it's like JakeAut0 mentioned, more tonal than power.

Your knock around hp is 130. 160hp is limited to the power band which extends from 5600rpms to 6200 (which is the red line.) I try to limit power band driving to interstate entrance ramps and or accidentally pulling out in from of other(s).

You got any advice on how to secure a Turbo kit for my tC.
With the year being 2020 and the car being pretty old I was hoping for a local to have a tC that they're trying to part out.

Tuning is also a concern. You might want to locate a tuning tech before you buy a new or used kit. The tuner may be able to help you find what you need.
