Easiest way to gain power for under 2k
#41
yeah - some people dont know what they are talking about and just rely on the hear say of others.. A lot of people on here who bash the S/C have never had first hand experience. Also, I have seen TONS of turbo's fail on here... really, it comes down to
1) who installed it
2) was it new or used
3) how was it maintained.
I am pretty sure Robocop never put a S/c in is ride, so I wouldnt listed to anything he says.
Id put it to you this way - I have seen MORE s/'cs WORK in person, and run just fine, than have blown up. Most people that blew the s/c unit they have, all CHANGED a lot of stuff out on it. If it was SUPPOSED to run with a 9.5lb pulley, trd would of made it with one.. but guess what? they didnt. MOD ANYTHING at your own risk. Just like my bikes, they didnt come with that extra 15hp (my cbr is almost busting the 180hp mark) ... you always run the risk of damaging stuff that has been TAMPERED with.
The s/c unit was not discontinued because they blew up, it was discontinued because scion knew they were coming up on the end of the tc lifespan (new one will be here very shortly) and the EPA keeps killing the standards we grew up with. Everything has to be as "green" as possible. Also, yeah the market did not totally accept the power output to cost ratio, and yeah, the turbo provides way more power - but some of us wanted to go the way of the s/c for many other reasons. I love mine. It runs nice as f*ck and anyone that has taken a ride in my car that had a N/A was surprised on the gains it put in. But I have lots of other mods too.. LSD/clutch/shiftkit, stoptech BBK... I have every item TRD made minus the coilovers, and thats only because they were not out when I bought all the OTHER trd suspension setups.

16 year old. Most likely still in school.
I would want power all the time and not worry about filling it up.
Nitrous 75 shot will be reliable.
Only saying. Just my opinion from
a teenager point of you.

dude it could still be a good car. Why was it salvaged? Theft?
I would just stay away from something with MAJOR frame damage, OR FLOOD.. you dont want a flood car, the electronics could in the next 1-3 years cause some serious headaches.
If it was a theft/vandalism, go for it bro. Seriously. Plus, $7k for a tc is a steal. Just make sure no FRAME damage - you dont want anything that could be unsafe for you.
Have at it joey, go get this bish
