ECU programming

I contacted Unichip about a week ago, they stated they are currently working on the tC and should be ready to release within 12 weeks. Looking at other piggy-back ECUs they've done for Toyota's, we can probably expect about an average of a 5 - 7 hp increase across the entire power band, and 10 - 15 peak hp increase. But note, that they dyno crank hp, not at the wheels. They also do rev-limit increases, speed limiter removals, and custom maps for various aftermarket parts one might have installed. Check out their website and read their FAQ.

hey guys newbie poster here, i have been looking into an ecu program also, a well known company called accessport is making a plug and play ecu reflash for the TC right now, but i have no way of finding any links to it other than a couple of scooby owneres i have talked to speaking about the product. They all own the accessport and it is sold on cobbtuning.com......if anyone knows a release date for the TC version of the accessport holla! The product is high quality, my friends WRX has it and he has dropped his quarter mile time almost 1.5 seconds!!! yo thats like a lifetime in drag racing. Anyhow please somebody say they know what i am talking about or if i was just getting false information!!!!

The way Toyota ECUs work there is no way to just reflash the ECU and voila, instant power. The only method you'd have available is a piggy-back or a completely new ECU, so the fact that a company is working on reflashing the tC ECU is either 100% BS or that company will just end up finding out it isn't possible.

I know Scion Speed are working on uncoing the ECU and Removing the Speed Limiter. Piggy-backis goign to be aviable , not a new ECU. And the other thign i know is that are close to be done but i don't kknow when is that going to happene.

Obike - You can reflash any ECU if u know how, ie programming codes and whatnot. So that is just not true.
The Cobb Accessport is a great tool for the WRX. I doubt they will make one for a Scion tC. Cobb is purely Subaru as of right now and not sure what their future plans are. It could be very true that your friend shaved off 1.5 seconds of his qt mile time with an accessport depending on the mods plus his car is turbo-ed, ours isnt. So a new or reflashed ECU for his car will do alot more than ours. Turn up boost, remap, and more! Plus depending on the mods he can do alot more. So probably no accessport for tC and dont expect 1.5 seconds of a qt mile time with an ECU!

Actually, the guys at Cobb have gone on to form a seperate section of their company that tunes other cars, for example the G35.
I had a Cobb ECU reflash on my WRX and I have to say that it was the biggest single mod I ever did for that car. I had stage 2, which is simply a new turboback exhaust (removing 2 of the 3 cats) and the reflash. Wam! Instant jump of about 60 hp!!
Of course I didn't stop there for long...but that's another story.
Anyways, it is possible that Cobb's people might be working on something for the tC but I doubt it. I searched their site and found nothing. Plus with a stock turboed car there's alot to work with. Cobb was able to play with boost levels, fuel, etc... and get alot more out of the WRX. Same with the STi...Cobb stage 2 for the STi is again merely a turbo back exhaust plus a reflash and that alone equals a jump of appx 50 hp. That's not going to happen with the tC.
Now...I don't know alot about superchargers, since I'm a turbo guy but perhaps it will be possible to reflash a s/c tC and get more than just the projected 40 hp out of it. by playing with fuel and boost...

the day cobb comes outwith a accessport for the tC is the day i buy it. i did my research on cobbtuning when i was buying my STI, couldnt buy it so i got a tC instead. ecspeaily if they tune it for the SC from TRD.....omg that would be awesome.

my co worker has a sti. he purchased the access port from them, and said that its great. has alot of features. for example, when you goto valet your car. you can adjust the boost to 0. so when the valet guy tries to gun it. he will not be going anywhere . it has tons of features other than that, but that was probably one of the best features.
