Default Engine Swap / AWD

What would be a good engine that would fit in the 2008 TC. Im trying to make it a low 11 high 10 second car. Im thinking about converting it to AWD when I get back from deployment. I have a TRD supercharger on it already but its just not doing it for me. Would it be cheaper to upgrade the internals and strap on a twin turbo or just swap the engine? Also, how much would it cost to convert it to AWD?

if you're gonna have all that money to put in an engine swap or a twin turbo.. you might as well just trade in the tC and get a car that satisfies your needs.. for example, an evo x or an 08 sti. to me, the tC is more of a daily-driver-axleback exhaust-suspension-cruisin'-type-of-car.. i wouldn't do such projects as swapping an engine. but putting in a twin turbo is understandable.. but a waste of money, imo. there's better cars out there.

If your looking into a 10-11 second car You might as well just upgrade the internals and go single turbo, twin turbo just wouldnt work. Although i think i read an article in super street though saying that some japanese guy twin charged his tc using the TRD supercahrger and a turbo, dunno how fast that went though.

Doing an engine swap IMO just isnt feasible. Like Ace83 said it costs way to much, and the only other 4 cyl engines that you can get here that have any chance of fitting are the 2zz-ge and the 3s-gte. 2zz wont give the numbers that u want without heavy internal work, and the 3s-gte only came here in the celica all tracs, which are relatively rare to come by.

If you are really intent on going awd though i suppose you could swap the engine and drive train from a celica all trac, but again i dont think that will get the numbers that you want, and would cost you a s**t load of money.

hahahahaha...right kid, sounds you know exactely what you doing.

look, your going to have to do alot of work to get an all wheel drive train under a tc, probably something like the toyota rav 4 drivetrain. so your going to need alot of money and knowhow to get that working, and strenthened to work with a really powerful turbo kit.

from the sounds of your post, it sounds like you just watched fast and furious and are shouting out some buzz words like it is all just so simple.

"i want a 10 second car, so i'm going to make my tc a twin turbo with NOS and AWD! it will be the ish!"

turning into AWD would alone cost around 10k and that's if u do the labor...then to beef up the engine and "twin turbo"? another 10k easy...so you're looking at the cost of an evo with mods...just some food for thought

with all said, the tc is a daily driver for you to take out ur gf and enjoy the ride...not a sTr8 racing car...please....chill TRD supercharger just give a lil performance that 100% works w/ a daily driven..that's enough to impress ur gf. well maybe not:-D

10 second car tC? Forget about DD.... youre going to end up spending so much $$ and face so many problems. Have you ever sat in a 12 second car? Even at 12 seconds 1/4 mile street car is pretty damn fast! A 10 second car being a DD street car is not likely.............. but with enough funding and patience, anything is possible.

Deployment money and re-enlistment bonuses work wonders. Everyone and their mother knows Evos and STIs are fast. I want something that looks good, but also has some *****.

lol u want a crazy idea for a swap? how about a RWD conversion using a mazda 20b rotary... you can be absolutely sure the engine will fit the bay at least - the tc might lose a few hundred pounds in the process from the swap alone.

2 birds with 1 stone lol - of course that swap would be even less reliable the other swaps bandied about above...

if you wanna spend 20k+ into a tc, on just all motor, be my guest. Yeah itll be sick, but you also have to think of functionality of everything. the problem is when you do these types of swaps, something is always bound to happen.

Thats true. i guess my next question is, is our 2.4 able to handle 15-20 lbs maybe even a couple more lbs of boost with some internal upgrades? If so, how much money am i looking at?

Get your boost on, keep it FWD, get an LSD and some sticky tires.

Seems easy enough to me.

Or, go cheap and buy some of these:

^^lol!

but yeah dude, your looking at a $hit load of money if you want to go through with those kinds of plans..i guess you're one of the few that dont like the look of the new evo and sti? why not sell the tc before you deploy, and when you come back, use all that money to get a more current car that would satisfy your power hunger for whenever you come back that is unless someone else will be driving your car while you're gone

yeah totally do it! Go and find someone who will fabricate all of your rear suspension and rear end, ruin your interior and add AWD to a chasis that was enginered t to have it! IT SOUNDS AWESOME!

Omg, if you want something with ***** I don't know why you bought a Scion. You clearly don't even know what your getting yourself into, or the absurds amounts of customization it will take. But thats fine, its your money, spend 30k on trying to make this thing driveable then you'll have an ubber tight AWD TC, like ZOMG, YAY!

Im pretty sure I didnt ask for your attitude. To the other guy, your right. I dont like the way the new evos and sti's look. The TC imho looks the best out of the sport compact cars, so thats why I bought it. I figured you would be able to run a good amount of boost in it. but from what ive seen it takes quite a bit of internal work to be able to support.
