EXHAUST SYSTEM

EXHAUST SYSTEM
What is the point of a catback exhaust on our tc's? I could see changing the header and the rear section (muffler), It is mandrel bent already, sure the resonator is a little big but the exhaust is silent. You will still see a gain by a header and rear section. Its already stainless steel also. Just wanted some insight of what other people thinks?

bigger piping would be the key. more air flow. that 1/4 inch actually makes a differences. and the downpipe isnt quiet, the muffler is quiet.
in my case, i was plannin on gettin a 2 3/4 pipe and connect it to the stock muffler since the stock muffler baffles a lot of sound

i would say get a good 60mm (2.36'') mandrel bent, resonated midpipe that works with the stock axle back.
it will give the gains of the traditional catback and still keep the sleek tc muffler look with the mature quiet sound...although it should sound more aggressive down low.

The car has 2.5" mandrel bent pipes stock. I just will probally get an axle back exhaust.

the piping is NOT the same all the way through...the downpipe/front pipe is wider than the rest of the exhaust system
that difference in exhaust 2.25--2.5 is major, helps alot
u can get a full kit that is cat back and includes the front pipe---but they are
emissions illegal cuz it replaces the front cat
i have TRD exhaust now, but im waiting for my Borla catback system to arrive

all of the systems I have seen that are out or coming out are rear-axle back only. The Injen one has been selling out every time we get it in and I have been informed by GReddy that they will be releasing theirs soon. (GReddy also is working on a Turbo System for the tC). Anyway since the DC Header is NOT street legal you might as well have a muffler shop do custom piping to a nice APEXi Muffler or something if you really want to do the whole system (incl. Header) and go ***** out w/ bigger piping (which I agree is not needed on a n/a car). Personally I am going to probably get the GReddy Evo2 when it comes out, it will be legal and look the best, IMO. I dont want to do the Header or custom piping, I did all that on my 3-Series and it was way to loud even for me!!! point is no companies I have heard of are bringing full cat-back systems to the shelves, because they know its pointless.

Well I know for a fact that Borla is bringing a cat back exhaust and performancemuffler.com (I think) has one already with a magnaflow muffler. There will definitly be catbacks for this car just give it time. AXLE BACKS ARE WEAK!
