Default Exhaust system is too loud..Add Resonator?

My exhaust system is too loud and a lot of people complained about it. I also got a $98 ticket for having an "altered exhaust system". I was thinking about adding a resonator to my mid pipe.
Right now I just have straight pipes with no cat. If I add a good resonator or 2, will I be seeing a loss in hp? If so, how much would I be expecting to lose with maybe let's say 2 resonators to quiet down my exhaust big time.

Thanks.

resonators won't quiet the exhaust down..

mufflers and CATs do that..

with resonator you will most likely lose at worst 1hp......they are mainly a pass through screen that disrupts the soundwaves and changes their speed and tone......in fact you may gain a little throttle response as with straight pipe you are gettign no backpressure and the motor needs some to perform properly......

But, just so you don't think I'm an all out jerk.... I did the work for him:

to quiet it down you will need mufflers... to cure rasp, you'll need resonators.

i think a good muffler would make a bigger difference than a HF cat. and will be less restrictive...

resonator will quiet down the exhaust.........take out the loud rasp you more than likely have and make it sound good again........

resonators will kill rasp, and take down volume quite a bit, wehn cold car still will have rasp to some extent but it is not the weedwacker on crack sound you get without it.

if i say yes.. will you stop asking?

or more the question.. will you still do it?
does it matter at this point considering you didn't seem to read the rest of the responses above?

you'll still won't quiet the exhaust down that much.. you'll still get complaints... and you'll still be pulled over and given a ticket for your exhaust.

05rs1 u r definatly not close to 200 hp with those simple bolt ons, I basically have the same setup and are nowhere near that, stock tc dynos at 145ish for a 5spd and 136 for an auto ur lucky to be around the 160whp range, and to the OP jus add the resonator and cat it doesn't matter how much power u lose its not like ur making much from simple bolt ons anyway, and jus to let u know a tc with jus an axleback header and cai makes usually more power on a dyno then one with a full catback. there's been a few that have dyno'd a ptuning and made more then others with full exhausts

wow...
200 whp?
man i went the wrong way. i have supercharger and a couple of bolt ons.
and i'm at 205.
what do you have done, other than whats up top...

a better axil back...
i really like my trd axel -back. i think its pretty thoaty and its not to load.
just my opinion....

now . my opinion, if your worried about whp. put the resinators will eliminate rasp.. i would go with these

non turbo ( 20 + whp)
