Default Good buy or not?

I was wondering if the stage 1 block from ZPI was worth the price they are asking? I am not too sure about performance since this is the first car I will be putting FI on. From what I have read on many forums as well as here the tC needs some extra work on the internals as well as the gear box. I have no idea what is considered part of the "internal" except for the pistons.

Heare is the link to there block http://www.zeropointindustries.net/s...9363a026204cd2

Please let me know what else I would have to do to my "internals" if I get this block to make the engine be able to handle high boost!

When people say "internals" what all does that include?

Now when you say "high boost", how much are you talking? 8...12...14lbs! If you're going above 10lbs, it would be beneficial (but not required) to upgrade your pistons, rods, injectors, colder plugs and valves. Anything above 14lbs, you're definitely looking to do some major upgrades. Pistons, rods, full valve system, cams, head studs, sleeved cylinders, plugs, injectors, fuel pump, drive shafts...pretty much an overhaul. Base upgrades for any amount of boost would have to be an LSD and clutch upgrade. Of course suspension and brake upgrades are highly beneficial too.

I guess what I should ask are 2 simple questions.

1.As far as my internals go, If I want to run 14-16lbs of boost what else would I need to buy if I get this stage 1 block from ZPI?

2.Is this block from ZPI a good deal? Or is it priced higher than what it is worth?I would not know how to put them in myself so I would have to pay for labor! Keeping that in mind would I be better off buying the pistons and rings seperately since this one comes with OEM rods and bearings?

I would not know how to put them in myself so I would have to pay for labor!

I know about getting a new clutch, beefing up the suspension, and getting a big break kit. As well as all the stuff for my fuel management system (fuel pump, injectors, rail, lines, etc.)

Well if you are planning to go 14-16lbs of boost, you might want to wait for ZPI's Stage 3 block that's sleeved and has beefy rods, pistons and bearings. You are also going to need a lot of head work with a complete valve train upgrade.

In the mean time learn as much as you possibly can about engines (specifically turbo ones) before even thinking about a project of this magnitude. 16PSI & trying to keep it a daily driver is going to take $$$$$ and a lot of knowledge.

Will not be a daily driver with that kind of boost!

I did not know ZPI even had a stage 2 out yet?

That is why I am asking all these questions! I will not buy a kit or go that high with boost until i know I have everything that I need as well as be able to maintain it!

Their Stage 2 and Stage 3 blocks are coming soon. Get both their Stage 2 Head and Stage 3 Block if you want the easiest install. Both items, however, are yet to be released.

That's fine but getting info from a source like a good book will prove more beneficial than the couple of months you'd need on here to learn everything you'll have to know.

Try these...

Maximum Boost by Corky Bell Only $23.00

And

How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems by Jeff Hartman Only $20.00

Both cover just about everything when it comes to boosting your car.
