right now no cold air intake is legal in california due to new emmisions that were passed for 2005 vehicles thats y the aem intake was being pushed back soo much because they were able to make it 49 states legal and the only state it did not pass was in california...

If you look at the picture of the intake, you can clearly see the CARB exemption sticker; making it legal in california.

Below the Injen logo, both in the ebay auction and confirmed in the actual intake intalled on Malina's car.

edit: for spelling.

With CARB exemption, its all a matter of paying the money for the required testing. Takes time... and money

from K&N's website

"California and a few other states require an intake system to be inspected by a state regulatory agency, such as the California Air Resources Board (CARB). If the system meets the regulatory requirements, CARB will issue an EO number. This number, when referenced, will inform a smog inspector that the intake system does not cause the vehicle to be in violation of state emissions standards. EO numbers are assigned for a specific part number on a specific vehicle. When a new year of the vehicle is released, a resubmission to CARB is required. The time required to go through the regulatory process can be as great as ten months and there is no guarantee the system will be found acceptable for each successive vehicle model year"
