Default grinding gears

am i the only one who seems to grind gears way too often? i probably grind gears once every other day. i was driving a 1999 toyota corolla 5spd prior to owning the tc and i never had this problem. is it common with new cars? is it the tc's clutch? or do i suck at driving? jk :p

thanks in advance

ps. it doesn't seem to be the same gear every time either. sometimes 1-2. sometimes 2-3. and sometimes 3-4.

I've been driving anything and everything for >30yrs and initially had the same issue with my tC. All I had to do was slow down my shifting a bit, be very deliberate with the clutch, and now I almost never grind.

I know the clutch always engages at the same point during the pedal's range of travel, but sometimes I could almost swear it varies. It feels as if you have to push the pedal all the way in before it disengages, then let it almost all the way out before it engages again, which makes no sense.

yeah, your just not holding the clutch long enough, your probably just not insync with the coordination between the pedal and shifter movement.

ill be the first to admit.. the tc is hard to drive. i learned on porsche and that thing was a beast to drive but the tc is still difficult to shift and clutch

i had problems when everything was stock. i added the engine damper, nst steel shifter cable bushings, then the creative compacts short shifter with base bushings, changed the fluid to reline MT90 and also i made my own clutch pedal stop to get rid of the excess clutch pedal travel.

after doing all those the shifting is awesome. i used to miss gears and grind them all the time but it got better with every one of those mods i did. with all of those mods it feels TOTALLY different now.
