Axlebacks like the Tanabe G and Greddy's EVO2 ,TRD,Borla are specifically tuned for the stock header, they will sound wonderful ,though a bit on the quiet side(not quieter than the stock barrel of course) these brand name tuned exhausts benefit from larger piping(S-pipe,Mid-pipe with similar sized cat and res) to give them a louder boom, BUT they go straight to the crapper once the stock manifold is exchanged for an aftermarket one.
IF you plan on an after M header your better off getting something universal (or the HKS HP)and like T mafia said building a quality mid-pipe.

 

i have strup headder and axel back. with f5 intake.
Sounds 10 times worse than a honda with no headders and a blown engien. but its fast as hell now. my friends used to love the sound of my tc with just the intake but now all make fun if it. untill i blow past them. thank you so much for the tips on replacing the midpipes with larger ressonators. i will do that ASAP. infact to be truth full i know a bit about cars but knew almost nothing about resonators untill this post.

 

But hey if you know mexicans, if duct tape and zip ties cant fix the problem then who knew it could be fixed at all? (but seriously duct tape dosent fix it, i tried!)

 

Well just keep in mind you want a "perforated core" resonator also known a s a sub muffler or a straight through muffler.

30" total lenght(about 27" body) seems to be the magical size...

 

im ordering a dc header for my 08, right now all i have is a hks axle back and a injen cai, the stock resonator seems quite large, would there be that nasty sound even if i leave all the rest of the system stock, seems like to me that one cat, a resonator and a muffler should be just fine

 

you'll have rasp even with the stock S and mid-pipe, just not as much...
