so i was at my witts end today and gave up...went out to see a movie with the girlfriend and came home and wanted to tinker a little more. With her help, we bled the slave cyl 6-7 more times and i started up the car with no expectations. What do you know, none of my car guy friends could get it working but my girlfriends touch must have done something. Either way the clutch is now working again and after adjusting it, feels like an oem clutch again..... VERY HAPPY :D!

it must have been something you where doing before. i dont know the bleeding process you did but there probably was alot of air in your lines left over from when you swapped out the slave and then the CMC. im guessing your car buddy might have done it another way and taken out the air.

congrats on getting it going. im now 100% sure it was CMC that was faulty and NOT your slave.

after a few days of driving it id maybe bleed it one more time just get all the air out because it will creep around a little check your fluid level for the cmc then you should be free of problems.

Did you upgrade the clutch?

Check your fluid level in the reservoir

When you bleed it, does a steady stream come out?

what you need to do is adjust the engagement point on your clutch ^^^^ you might also need the pushrod extension from speed source

http://www.speed-source.net/

extended clutch slave cylinder pushrod... this will help with raising your engagement point. (some adjustment will need to be made on the clutch pedal if you use this product to dial it in to your liking)

I have a 6 puck ACT (although mine is the xtreme pressure plate) and I have adjusted it, bled it multiple times with a vac bleeder, and even have a lengthened pushrod I made and mine still engages close to the floor. At first you literally had to have it on the floor for it to disengage - now after everything Ive done its much better but still the engagement point is alot lower than OEM - everyone else Ive known thats had this clutch has said the same thing, so i guess youll have to get used to it, I have and its fine.

so are you saying you tried it before or after making this post? are you still having issues....Tcpete you beat me too it, i was going to say, it sounded like you need to lengthen the pushrod. I have mine almost all the way out now and feels like an oem clutch again but but i only have a stage 2...

Before I posted anything I had already tried it....someone had told me about so I tried....1 thing I did notice is that I'm missing a bushing for the pin that holds the clutch master to the pedal....Toyota is delivering it to me at my job today so I'm going to try that and see what happens....I think it will help because when I start to push the clutch down, the pedal moves but the threaded rod for the master doesn't start to go in yet.....so we will see

SUCCESS!!!!!!! I FINALLY fix my clutch issue....its not perfect but it works...its an idea i had weeks ago that i thought wouldnt work....so today i finally tried it...i extended the clutch master's rod that is threaded and goes to the pedal....now it grabs kinda high but im not missing gears and the gears aren't grinding....also i have to reach under the pedal and use my foot to hit the switch that allows the car to turn on when the clutch pedal is pushed in....i kno that i can probably wire it so i dont need the clutch but it kinda adds a little security to the car....if for any reason someone got in the car and tried to start it would kno that the pedal doesnt reach the switch....i will post pics tomorrow of my invention lol.....

Yupp the aftermarket pressure plate was to much for the CMC to handle... Went back to a stock clutch and couldnt be happier!

i know this thread is old, but didnt want to make a new one. When i push my clutch in i hear a whining sound, and third gear is a little rough to engage, my transmission "went" i thought with an exedy clutch but i was told after purchasing a stage 4 comp clutch and having it installed that the issue was not the clutch my exedy was fine. I was told it was the throw out bearing, well now i am having transmission issues again and i am beginning to wonder if with all the slave and master cylinder issues i have seen if that could be my problem and not the throw out bearing......???????. are there any diy writeups that i am not seeing????

Troy, I don't know nearly as much about slave and master cylinders as the other guys here do, but I did help my buddy change out his clutch a few years ago and we posted a diy on here on how to replace the clutch and flywheel. All I can say about the throw out bearing is that when we went to put his new one on (from a spec stage 2) it was extremely tight, so he used a dremel to grind out a little so it would move more freely along the shaft before we put it all back together. I've heard a lot of other people suggest just using the stock bearing because of the same issue. Hope that helps
