Default Help a noob gain a little hp

Hey guys, ive had my tc for almost 5 years, payed off next month!
anyways id like to do some stuff to it to make it a bit faster, its getting boring and i need some excitement.
i really dont know much about the engine as far as which bolt ons to get and which ones will actually do something....

i have a fujita CAI and i like that, tiny gain, little bit of engine noise.
i really dont want my car to be loud at all... honestly the cai makes it loud enough, maybe a tad more noise but not much.

im kinda afraid to get any exhaust
so can someone help me out? what can i do?
i was looking around at headers or downpipe but dont know much about them, seems like something i could do myself.
will it make my car louder with the stock exhaust? will i get a power gain?
what brand ect...

Thanks in advance!

yep... in all honesty, ur not gonna make any noticable hp gains thru any other mods other than forced induction. i was stock with intake and header, than went boost, and back to stock for a week and i couldnt take it. and at the time i was only running 4spi of boost. its night and day. plus the $ ur gonna spend, u could save some extra, buy a used kit and have some real fun and have a fun car to drive.

yep. turbo is the most cost effective gains. any aftermarket exhaust will be loud. if you want just very minimal gains without extremely loud noise then intake is your only choice. header will make your car loud in an ugly way... anything that removes the pre-cat and cat will increase the cars loudness.

except a turbo...lol...ull have a lil noise out of the exhaust but nothing unbearable. i got pulled over more with my trd muffler and stock midpipe than i do with my turbo and 2 3/4" exhaust now.

if u want a nice upgrade of power with out going boost you can pick up an s-pipe.

i would recommend an invidia or megan spipe. its a quick 100 dollar upgrade you can easily pick up

from there a nice header.

it will get louder with a header but really the most noise will come when you add an axle back or full exhaust.

In all honesty how much does it cost to boost my tc?
The right way... I want a shop to install it and stuff like that. This is my daily driver and it needs to be reliable.
I'm assuming I'll need gauges and tuning also?
I think I rather get a new turbo kit even if it cost a bit extra..

Thanks for the replys, I was kinda afraid that's all the headers would do..

Depends the price ranges where you live. Depends what turbo u get, how much psi. Is ur car ready for it? The last thing u wanna be doing is having to repair something before u can even drop a kit in it. Is ur car auto or 5speed?

i wouldn't boost in cali, unless you pay the $250 to pass smog. just tune it for better response and clean a/f at w.o.t.
