Default Help with TRD CAI !!

Hey guys, so I was recently installing the big 3 upgrade and i guess i put a little too much pressure on my TRD Intake trying to move some wires around. As some of you may know by looking at a TRD Intake there is what seems to be another filter in the middle of the piping.
I do not know the function of this other filter but the plastic clips that hold it together broke (which are pretty flimsy tbh) and now when I start the car it sounds like it wants to die at idle and the engine light came on, I'm guessing one of the sensors was tripped due to the lowered air flow.

I've included some pictures of the damage and to show what exactly this filter is. I am wondering if I can replace this directly from TRD? Can I super glue the clips back? Can I replace this filter with a rubber tube and ditch the filter?

It helps prevent hydro locking your car if your main filter is fully submersed. It lets air in instead of sucking up water. As long as you aren't driving through floods, then just put a rubber fitting in its place and you will be fine.

Sounds good, i dont really ever see me having to drive through a large puddle so that settles that.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know if/where i can replace this piece?

AEM makes a replacement...i dont know if its discontinued or not, but if you really didnt care, you can just super glue or gorilla glue it together. the TRD intake is the same as the AEM cold air intake...so the bypass valve which is what this is called, is the same as AEMs.

its an air bypass valve and should usually have another foam cover on top of that. just run a silicone coupler to connect the two and reset the ecu.
