Hill assist ???

Hill assist ???
Did I see somewhere that the tC has some sort of Hill Assist technology built in to allow manuals to start in 1st gear more easily on extreme slopes?
If it does, it SUCKS
Case in point....I was out at Manasses (Va) ski resort this last weekend actually doing some winery tour stuffs with some friends. I'd parked my car pointing uphill in a badly sloped parking lot at breakfast. I went to leave, had my foot on the break and the clutch. Popped my foot off the brake, pushed the gas and let the clutch out QUICKLY so as not to roll backwards into another car.
Throttle response? None. I rolled back about 6" and practically stalled out.
Tried again, same thing. Getting furious. Again? Still nothing.
So, (cussing at the top of my lungs) I did a controlled roll backwards and hard right turn, putting me now sideways on the slope. No threat of rolling backwards now.
Off brake, gas/clutch motion, worked fine.
Am I retarded? What the hell was going on?
20k on the ticker and I still drive this car like it's my first day on a stickshift.
I'm seriously beginning to unlike this vehicles throttle design.
If it does, it SUCKS

As far as I know, there is no such "hill-assist" on the tC. Sometimes on hills it just takes a lot more gas than normal to get it moving. Tough to say because I'm just used to it now, but I think I may let the clutch out a little slower when starting off on a hill. Because I give it more gas, letting it out quick would cause tire spin or stalling, which probably isn't what you're going for. Practice makes perfect. Find a hill and take a few tries.

why not just cheat with the ebrake? its what i do when im feeling lazy, pull ebrake, release brake pedal, engage clutch, rev, slowly release clutch, when you feel the car pulling forward enough, slowly release the ebrake
fool proof......

This is basic fundamentals of driving a stick in adverse weather conditions. Everyone should know this.

Forget adverse driving conditions, it's the basic rule of thumb in INTO TO DRIVING A STICK! It doesn't matter if its in adverse driving conditions or not, this is a hill technique in general.

the throttle response isnt the best but, honeslty you have to be quick and know what your doing if on a slope and driving a stick....it takes skills and knowledge, more gas and slower on the clutch as your going up hill and more weight and force is on the car

If you can figure out the engagement point of the clutch and know how to get it that "sweet spot" quickly and consistently, then you should be able to handle hills just fine.

lol, hence why i wrote "cheat" up top, i feel like its cheating too, but i mostly use that methods on pretty steep highway offramps/onramps with traffic lights

im not even going to read all those replies.
i got as far back as you rolling back 6" and i already realized you need to learn how to drive a manual car.
ebrake up, gas pedal engaged while clutch pedal is being dis-engaged. ebrake down. drive away.

ya ive gotten my car to move with out the gas before and at school i park on a decent sized hill and when i go to leave i just let the clutch out to hit the friction point and it will almost hold the car with out any gas..
you need to go find a hill and figure out the friction point..its keys to starting on hills and learning to shift smoother to rev match and not cause the jerk.
my tC was a little harder then my old integra to get down at first i think do to the throttle response but practice makes perfect.
as for the e-brake method dont do it..its cheating

cheating? i don't understand, are you guys playing a game or something? who are you cheating? do what you have to in order to not hit someones car.
OP, learn how to drive a stick.
