Default hit rev limiter

hey everybody, i just got back from the track and i did somthing sooooo stupid.....

i left my s/c tC in L (a/t) for the burn out....but forgot to put it into D for the race (dumba$$ move, i know).....

needless to say, i bounced off the limiter a few time, and was pushing about 8.5 psi (on the stock pulley) according to my boost gauge.

do you guys think i screwed anything up?? ive never hit the limiter on any of my other cars, so i really dont know the effects that it has on the motor and the rest of the drivetrain.

please help me out with your imput

Thanks
Dan

Thats what the limiter is for, so you don't damage anything from over-revving

I hit my limiter for fun lol! ;)

But seriously, you will be fine

That is what it is there for, but hitting if for fun is not smart, It is still not good for your engine to be revved that high all the time, and it WILL shorten the life of the engine doing it a lot.

Like the others siad, its not an issue. Its their for a reason, and when they set the limiter, they DO NOT set it at the extreme limits of what the engine can handle.

Its like having a 1 ton (2000lb capacity) Pickup truck. If you put 2050 LBS in it, its not going to fall apart. But you shouldnt do it often.

yes it will be logged on there. yes they can see it. no it wont void your warranty UNLESS they can prove that what you did broke whatever.

Look at youtube, so many ppl post vids of the tC motor bouncing off the limiter. If nothing seems different you should be fine. There are some motors where even repeated high revving would cause damage (such as valve float, 2ZZ and some older Honda motors come to mind).

if owners had that type of ability and knowledge, the tC would be considered having even more potential than it already has.

the limiter isnt evil. its a savior. thats as high as it was safely engineered to run. so you should be perfectly fine.

the rev limiter is a safety on your engine but hitting it alot will burn out your camshaft positioning sensor i know only because i just blew my sensor
