Default how i got rid of my rasp...

ok.. so i had a megan header, invidia s-pipe, and megan oe-rs exhaust, stock midpipe... and it was barely louder than stock, and every so often would give off a rasp sound if i accelerated really hard... but rarely..

then i replaced the midpipe with the tsudo midpipe with the 18 inch resonator on it, and the car went from quiet to insanely loud, it sounded sooo ricey and i hated it... raspy and had that metallic loud sound too it...

so then i went to a shop to get a 30 inch glass pack welded on in place of the resonator, and omfg... its as good as it was before the midpipe replacement almost... i would say HONESTLY 95 % of the rasp is gone and that metallic ricey sound is completely gone...

bets part was, i got the glass pack installed for $42 ... very cheap... i recommend this to anyone... i now have complete exhaust, no cats, and it just has a deep rumble too it, barely any rasp at all, and no metallic ricey sound... so happy with this

Sounds like a good setup..once question though..I heard glass packs lose there effectiveness after about 5k miles or so? *shrug* don't know much on the subject so thought I would ask

it is effective all the way thru the rpm band... obviously if u floor it u will hear a bit more rasp, but still barely anything compared to how my setup was before... i couldnt stand driving my car before... now i love it... when i floor it it actually sounds good...

im in jacksonville so i got it at some local muffler and welding shop... a real old looking place but they put it on in like 25 mins and it was $42 installed... this is DEFINATELY worth getting...

if u have no cats, and a complete aftermarket exhaust setup like i have, go for the 30 inch resonator and u wont be sorry unless you love that terrible metallic rasp sound

Got a sound clip? I installed a Dme header and megan 2.5" s-pipe 2 weeks ago and I love the horsepower gains but the rasp is killing me I talk to a guy on here and am working on getting 2 aero 25's to have a buddy weld on after I cut off the cat in my stock mid pipe I also previously added a Brola rear section exhast and Injen cai

yes glasspacks lose there effectiveness bc the materials within them melt changing the sound.

no i dont have any sound clips sorry... its fiberglass inside, i doubt those melt anytime soon... like everything im sure it loses its effectiveness over time, thats when u replace it... $42 aint much to replace after a year or 2 or more

No way I'm taking off the header and lose the power gain I'll get a custom exhaust from s-pipe back and 2 aero 25's to take care of rasp first

not to sound like an ___, but really, the hp gains from a header are almost negligible maybe two, three hp, and thats at the crank, not the wheels.

but hey, to each their own, I'm not going to try and change your car. I've gone through two headers myself

LOL lots of "power" being gained from a header

I think it's due to the fiberglass packing finding it's way out of the resonator. Blow out.

basically what your saying is that instead of doing the smart thing and selling your header, you were and idiot and dumped even more money into an exhaust that yields you minimal gains if any? that sounds like a great idea!!!! heres a better idea, i spent half as much money on my exhaust and i guarantee it fits better, sounds better, and looks better and i could still beat you in a race... tanabe concept G and megan mid-pipe ftw!

I want to hear a sound clip from outside the car lol. 99% of the tC's that have 'eliminated' rasp have only listened to it from inside the car, and it still sounds horrible outside.

Umm, that is raspy. It's barely being revved and it sounds like ____. That thing is probably raspy as hell over 4k RPM. And that's for a catback, so it most likely does not have a header.
