sweet

Watching/waiting for the pictures and videos. How was the break-in process? I'm not sure if i'd have the patience to do digure 8's for too long.

There's a certain idiot who think his opinion is worth stating over and over and it's getting annoying... also he seems to think his opinion needs to be defended. wtf? You only defend a post when there's a misunderstanding of the technical information you put forth. I wish you could give ratings to different authors so once your rating is bad enough scionlife wouldn't let you post anymore.

Does anyone know if that tranny will fit? Could the bell housings just be swapped over. I did this with my old Neon. I put a PT Cruiser tranny in it. All I had to do was swap out bell housings and I was set. The car was sweet after the swap.

are you guys positive nothing else is different in the tranny?

also, isn't this ultimately just giving up 5th gear acceleration in favor of lower rpms?

forgive me for my ignorance in this.

Munch, I know what you mean. I swapped 3rd and 4th from a geo storm to my cav tranny along with the pinion gears in the diff and the cav was a whold different animal. It was amazing what a little gear ratio change did for it. I would love to do something similar with the tC to get a little more out of it.

That camry tranny would almost allow you to bang the speed limiter in 4th gear. Damn....Me thinks I want. This longer gearing would be great with my s/c.

Longer gear is never better. It maybe good for fuel economy, but never on performance.

ah... I beg to differ. It totally depends on your car and setup. If first gear is so short it is literally useless when boosted as well as second, a longer ratio in both would be bliss. Also would help nail a better launch at the strip, keep you in gears longer. I think the benifit of the better launch would help us boosted people all around on the 1320.

Also munch... I think the 07 camry engine and tranny are literally identicle to the tc as they changed the 07 camry internals to the same as the tc... That is the info I hear so it should be a pretty straight swap.

The tC transmission is pretty well geared. Its not too long or too short. The theory of tall gear being suited for FI is full of BS. Short gear will always equal faster acceleration.

the shorter gearing in the tC will give you better acceleration boosted or not. the problem is putting the power to the ground. you should try to address that in other ways before you resort to changing your gearing. suspension, LSD, and slicks would cure alot of the traction problems your having.

not true, when you have a 300+ hp tC, that last in 1st gear for about 2 seconds, and starts running out of gear near the end of the quarter mile...do the math...

a stock tc runs about what, a 15-16 second quarter mile(right?) at 140ish WHP

so a 300+whp tC9which is extremely possible) would probably be pushing the 11-13 range, depending on the driver and track conditions.

at those speeds, a close gear box, with slightly taller gears would help, b/c that tC can still roast the tires at those gears thanks to high TQ numbers....simple math...

at 300 whp in anything, even my heavy pickup(2004 silverado) an open differential does not provide enough traction, NO MATTER what tire you use, so for a boosted tC LSD is the way to go, a locker would be too much.

oh btw-that 300hp silverado...stock engine, AEM intake, dual flowmaster exhaust...so about 300whp....and one bald set of tires.

Uuuuuummmm... correct me if i'm wrong. but aren't the new '07 camrys 260+ hp??? Hardly a fair comparison to our 160hp stock engines.
