I eventually got mine as well. Only $29.99 shipped.
This is not just for CAIs. If you have an xB with a SRI, water CAN get to your filter by dripping between the grille and the driver side headlight. Little drops of water may not worry you, but after many miles of sucking those little droplettes into your engine you may have problems. The Hydroshield just helps me sleep better at night.
I felt no hesitation in the intake BTW.

You could still suck water up there. Look at the disclaimer on the link at the top, the shiled is water repellent, not water proof.

After seeing my CAI after 8xxx miles, the shield captured most of the dirt. I guess i'll just clean the shield instead of spending another $10 to clean my filter.
