i have a guy in my car club that im sure knos how to do it cause he add everything to his car himself (STI). but im jus scared if somethin goes wrong. it would be easier to blame the shop then to blame a person.

I can understand that. I simply followed the DIY that came with my intake and found it quite easy. Just have to remember what splash gaurd bolt goes where when you're putting it back together. There's only 6 i think so just lay them out in the manner that they came out and it's easy. I'm installing the Injen intake and HIDs on Phillyphil06's tC this weekend. Your friend with the STI should be able to do it. It's really straight forward.

whatever you chose to do, good luck though Just remember that if your CEL comes on and you went to the shop, they probobly didn't disconnect the battery. Common error. Disconnect the negative for about 5 minutes and then reconnect it. Reset your windows and roof and all, but your CEL will be gone. Let your engine idle for about 5 minutes and drive it for about 20 minutes doing both normal and some fast driving. It just helps readjust the ECU from being shut down.

nah, but the thing that is stoppin me is that u have to take off a tire. if it wasnt for that, i'd have him do it.
i had an 02 sentra se-r b4 the tC and he installed an aem on that wit no probs.
i guess i jus worry to much.
does the DIY come with the intake when u buy it?
like it tells u EXACTLY how to take the wheel off n stuff?

It won't tell you about the wheel and instructions for that b/c that should be common knowledge. I'm not saying that you should know though, just speaking in general.

Taking the wheel off is simple:

-Loosen the lugs off of the driver's front tire.
-Jack the car up from the center support that runs right next to the oil pan.

-when you're done with the intake, place tire back on hub while car is in the air still
-put one lug at a time back on with your hands
-tighten 1 or 2 as tight as you can holding the wheel stationary and using your torque bar or tire iron
- lower car back until the tires touch (not all the way down, but enough so that it doesn't spin)
-tighten all the lug nuts to about 80-100 lbs/ft (as tight as you can with your tire iron)
-lower car, and you're done

the intake should come with instructions on how to remove the old intake and install the new one though. I am going to scan my K&N instructions and post them up later tonight on here and my other site, www.clubsciontc.com That should help a lot of people.

even on surface roads you can hydrolock. When I had my 98 Eclipse i was driving at night and there was what looked to be a small puddle in the road and when i drove through it the engine stalled and hydrolocked. Ended up blowing a rod through the pan and destroyed the engine.

The bypass i dont believe is completely safe and neither is the hydroshield, but they are still good to use. The AEM bypass will not work on the Injen CAI intake without modification to the intake, I've already looked into it.

Where the intake sits on the Eclipse and where it sits on the tC is a world of difference.....

If you had the CAI on your eclipse I can understand why that happened. It runs right down the center of the motor and off to the driver's side near the bottom. The problem with the eclipse is that it has no under splash gaurd. My friend's got a 98 GS and it's the same way. We built a sheet metal splash guard to mount under it and it works great. The tC is shielded from the under side.
