Injen SRI question

Injen SRI question
So I was able to install my Injen SRI in a little under an hour (thanks SL for the FAQ -- of course it was for the Weapon R SW, but the removing of the stock airbox proved very helpful).
When everything fit and everything was connected properly, I reconnected my battery and started her up. The car started up fine, but after a few moments, the idle dropped to 800RPM. Curious, I shut the car off and checked all the connections to see if I didn't tighten any clamps tight enough, disconnected/reconnected the MAF sensor and oiled up the O-ring for a good tight seal. But once I started it up again, an initial boost back to 1500, and then bam, back down to 800RPM. Now I know I didn't go anywhere near the left side of the engine, so it couldn't possibly be a timing issue, could it?
Is this just the car getting accustomed to the new intake, or am I missing something incredibly different? Thanks in advance.

So I used the Search button and I did a little bit more reading.
I took out the MAF sensor and wiped it clean of all oils and I just sprayed a mist of water on it. Replaced it tightly, and I'm still idling at 800. Any ideas? Thoughts? Swift kicks to my butt so I can land in another thread that answers my dilemma?

Your computer has to adjust upon reset... I get wierd idles at startup on reset, especially when the engine is cold...
I wouldn't stress insanely about it.... but if it continues, go back to stock and see if that makes any difference. I definately doubt it has anything to do with the MAF, especially that quickly

I have the Injen intake and installed it as a sri at first, but it did not go to 800 rpm. i let it sit for a few minutes and then drove around for the rest of the day and its been fine ever since. last week i installed the CAI part and still the same thing. make sure none of the wires are kinked, i dunno giving you some suggestions...

I was thinking about heading outside and letting my car idle for 10 or 15 minutes so the ECU can catch up. I didn't drive for too long after I installed it. Hopefully this'll work. I'll report back in 15 minutes.
I have to reprogram my radio stations, anyway. Since I d/c the battery and whatnot. hehe

15 minutes later:
800RPM. Even dropped to 500RPM at one point. It's pretty dark outside, so I don't want to pop my hood and check the MAF sensor again. I'll wait until tomorrow morning.
WeDriveScions: how long does it usually take for the ECU to take in all the changes to the intake?

I agree between 700-1000 rpms seems to be my normal idling range. When I first start the car, it idles hi...like around 1500, but never idles that high during driving. I think you got nothing to worry about.
HOWEVER...I do have one question: HAS ANYONE NOTICED A LOSS OF TORQUE OR LOW-MID RPM POWER since installing the injen intake (SRI or CAI)?

800rpm is normal for me... When I had the SRI at first it would take forever to warm up but the RPMs would stay at 2000rpms for a while. I wouldnt have to touch the gas in 1st or 2nd. Dont sweat it, you shoule be ok.

In regards to the question above about lost torque....
I notice a loss somewhat with running solely the injen intake... but when installed with the header and Axleback it seems to be non-noticable anymore.

Don't put oil around the ring! and other than that like others said it's normal for the rpms to go up to 1500. then they will go down to 800 once the car warms up. just watch the filter to make sure it doesnt rub too much.

my car is at 800rpm too! i thought the lower the better while on idle so i never questioned it! in the morning its 1200 then drops to 800.
Question:
anyone have a nice posted info about INJEN SRI intake how to install with pics? I read the CAI post with pics that was a nice read.
I never installed anything so i was wondering if this is something i can do myself? Disconnect batt i got that.. then idle for 15mins after install..rev once.. and give it drive.. now all i need is more guide to installing it!
edit. i friends who installed aftermarket parts but i read everything so i can gain tips like the towel on the second pipe if i run CAI
