Default Installed CAI, ENGINE LIGHT ON. HELP!

Just installed a Fujita CAI on my 07 tC and I drove about 30 miles just fine. Then i stopped on the side of the road to reset my sunroof and window motor (when you disconnect the battery you have to).

After I turned the car on, the check engine light came on.

What could be the issue? How do i fix it?

Thanks a lot!

possible loose fitting or air leak at the sensor on the intake.or possible damage doen to sensor during install.

...and the Fujita is renowned for throwing a CEL. Try the old disconnect-the-battery-and-wait-5-minutes rigamarole. If that doesn't clear the code, have it read and see what code it is.

Probably the MAF sensor. Make sure its seated correctly all seals are air tight.

my friend's light came on with his fujita. it was because it was shaking. you may have to check for leaks around the MAF sensor too

I checked for loose t-bolt clamps etc etc, and it is fine.

Looks like I didn't push the MAF sensor all the way down (the rubber seal wasnt in the intake pipe).

Resetted the battery, and let it idle for 5 minutes. No light on.

Will take it out and open it up and hopefully the light stays off.

Thanks a lot, will post again if it comes back on!

Started driving again today and it popped back on, on the freeway.

I looked last night, and the throttle body intake tube and the silicone connector to the intake might have a problem.

Looks like the intake tube is about 1 to 2 cm's off from totally touching the throttle intake. Could that set it off?

The MAF sensor is on right and I know it isnt damaged.

Could there be anything else? Where do I go to get the code read. New guy here.

Thanks

lol This sounds like what I'm dealing with right now. I just ignore the CEL. I know everything is snug and on properly and the car drives just fine.

My transmission is shifting a little weird too when i pop it into 2nd or 3rd sometime, almost kinda feels like a little bit of a loss of power sometime. car kinda hesitates

Could that be it also? Maybe the fitment isnt right?

Forget that transmission comment, it is shifting fine.

I had the code read at an independent dealership, (couldnt make it to autozone, had other plans) and the guy said it was a MAF circuit that it read. I forgot to ask him for the code.

I came home and re-did the intake, made it more snug and tightened the $hit out of the t-bolt clamps.

The light is off for now (ECU reset), but it usually comes on after 40 miles or so.

Any takers for this tough question?

So yeah...i was kinda assuming since its getting cold..that the extra cold air might be the culprit..because when i intalled it...it through no CEL..but now it does. Mine is the injen CAI/SRI.

Yea im in Minnesota, its 25 degrees today. Could it be very cold air?

That's kinda ridiculous. Any way to have the CEL not pop up?

is the fujita intake hella bigger than the stock intake where the maf goes? that could cause a false reading and throw a cel.

I went to autozone today and the checked the code and printed me the following:

Code: P0101

Probable Cause:
Vacuum hose off, cracked, or passage blocked-engine mechanical timing condition

Throttle body intake tube, loose, off, or cracked

Baro(barometer), MAP (manifold absolute pressure) defective

MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor dirty or defective.

What can I do?

Thanks,

Thanks for all the answers guys. Really appreciate it.

What would you check for? Take it to the mechanic/dealership?

Well what Im hearing from ya'll is this is happening to you on a specific brand of CAI. dont know why that would make that much of a difference. I ran an Injen CAI on my 06 tC and now one on my brand new 08 tC without a single problem. think you all have to investigate a little further... as in what other mods are you running? the only time I had a CEL problem is when I went full race exhaust from header all the way to Injen 4" SES race exhaust. and mind you all Im running at over 5500 feet above sea level. If you're running a racing header... shoot me pm and I'll tell you exactly how to fix the CEL issue.
P.S. Im a hardcore mechanic/ hot rod builder with 25 years experience.... just fyi.

I am not running any other mods as of now.

I have Megan headers and s-pipe coming in the mail soon, and as soon as I get a little more cash a borla exhaust.

I've seen the fix for the headers (moving the O2 sensor on the s-pipe further back using that little steel gizmo).

But if I have any problems I will for sure shoot you an e-mail.

I again re-did my work last night. Started it and let it idle for 5 minutes+ twice, and drove it this morning. No light yet.....fingers crossed.

Could it be that the filter on the end pipe was too low, and not high enough on the tube to set off the MAF sensor? Because I took the filter off and moved it up so the rubber top was a little higher on the pipe, right where there is a slight bend.

Thanks mouse
