Default Installed my Exhaust today and..[New Pics on bottom of Pg 1]

So I got a Tanabe Concept G for christmas..and I installed it today..sounds pretty sick and i feel a wee bit gain

however...after driving for about 5 mins on the highway i smelt something funny..hoping it was that smelll exhausts give off for a while when installed..it wasnt...it was my rs1 rear lip melting..so then i took it off stuck in the trunk...got home and my and I put it back on so the Exhaust had more clearence (previously had barly any and touched the lip) and this is what we came out witha fter pusshing and botling for 40 minutes....

My question is...Is that maybe 1 cm enough for it not too melt?

that looks too close for my comfort, especially if the tip gets hot to the touch which it probably does. my megan tip is about 1" to 1-1/2" from the bumper, and i haven't had problems yet. but yeah... if that's what you came up with, how was it before? was it actually touching? the way it is now, it might not burn literally, but if it's heating up the lip the paint might start to flake.

I used a metal clamp to sqeeze that rubber hanger, it helped a little, and my stock bumper never been melted.

I believe what they are describing is putting a hose clamp around the rubber hanger like a belt. The single eyelet will hook onto the car body and the double eyelet will hang on the muffler. So, put a hose clamp between the top (single) eyelet and the bottom (double) eyelet like a belt and tighten it. This will squeeze the rubber and elongate it a bit more. You want at least .5" clearance.

yup, right in the middle where the white arrows are...

not too sure on what size tho? Nothing too big since it will be tightened then it becomes smaller.

pardon my quick photoshop, but this is what they're talking about

as you tighten the bracket, it will squeeze the hanger giving you that extra space you might need.

yup, i did that on my injen just to give it a little more room, i used zip ties on all 3 of the hangers, but im going to use hoseclamps next time im at work and can get some. itll give you the needed space, and on mine it rattles a little from hitting the underside of the car and its really annoying. hoseclamps, whoever thought of that, i love you xD
