Default intake hydroshield vs. bypass valve

which one is better? im putting my CAI and i want some extra protection from water getting inside my intake.. im least likely to get hydrolocked, im turbocharged and water takes a long route before getting to the motor but still water can do some damage on the setup.. anybody has experience with hydroshield or bypass valve?

well, obviously the bypass valve will work better than the hydroshield. I have the hydroshield and I've driven through some pretty heavy rain without any problems. I don't know if the hydroshield really does much but at least it helps keep the filter clean. I think the bypass valve is only good if u drive through huge puddles..

Does CAI really help for forced induction? I usually just see the short ram set-up therefor no need for any type of water protection. If you want some protection, I say hydroshield because it will keep water off the filter while the bypass will let the water get on the filter and possibly let drops come up into the intake. Bypass is only good when the filter is submerged.
I drive in the rain with my CAI, no problems because of the tC design. The filter is pretty well protected unless you are lowered and took off the wheel well covers. Then you are destined for hydrolock. Avoid big puddles.

sound like hydroshield would be a better option, i dont think the bypass valve would be necessary unless i drive through a flooded road

I wouldn't recommend the bpv for a cai with f/i there is a disclaimer that AEM has suggesting not to use it with turbo or f/i cars because something that they pull too hard on the bpv material and will suck it into your motor so if anything the hydro shield would be better

^^ i didnt see that disclaimer but true on that, the turbo might suck it real hard and damage the bypass material and could get some materials stuck on my turbo or my pipe system or worst the motor.. i was just reading on how it works and i can see it doesnt go well with forced induced
