You do realize in order to get enough water to completely flood the filter element you'd have to drive through water at least 2 ft deep right?

I live in Pa also and have had the Injen cai for 2 yrs with no issues. I also have a Kaminari body kit and it has vents and you can see the filter with no hydroshield and i drive it every day with no issues.

I live in Baltimore, and went to school in York PA. I hydrolocked my last car (standing water, coudnt see how deep it was). I would def put a BPV or just do a short ram. Honestly the horsepower difference isnt really that huge.

CAI is a risk no matter how you look at it. you're either taking the chance for the extra ~1hp, or taking the chance to be able to say "I have a CAI and im confident i can avoid hydrolocking"

i drive the FDR in the rain (anyone from NY / NJ probably knows what that's like) with my CAI and as long as you know not to drive where the puddles are (L and R lanes) you wont have issues.

hell last year i was driving 208S in jersey during a torrential rainstorm, in the L lane, hit 2 HUGE driver side pools of water (almost hydroplaned) and didnt hydrolock.

keep your plastic liner in place, watch for puddles, and (worst-case scenario) keep money on hand... and you can run a CAI without a BPV or hydroshield.

Default hydrolocking

ok, so i just bought an Injen CAI for my 05 tC. I live in Florida and it rains a lot, so i'm kind of nervous about all of this stuff about hydrolocking. how do i do the bypass so that it wont happen when it rains?

Default buying parts

I recently bought the Injen CAI for the 05 tC:

http://www.intensepower.com/inspcoairint.html

and I will be buying the Injen Hydroshield. I bought the 3" bypass valve as well, for those who were looking for it... (http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...2&parts_id=520)

^^x2 technically the filter has to be submerged in water for enough time for it to suck in water all the way to your motor, if water splashes onto your filter nothing will happen
