They don't as long as you don't drive your tC like a jet ski.

I drove my tC through a downpour where the road was practically a river on a delivery.

Didn't have a bit of trouble. Bypass valves rule! lol. Course it was only a few inches deep.

I did the same $hit last year with my K&N CAI, had it towed to Toyota (i bent a connecting rod in half, looked like a J) and the insurance covered it, but I had to pay a $500 deductible out of like 2k+............now I just run an Injen short ram.........

Sorry, I know that doesn't help but I waited a full day to post it. :D

Anyway, hydrolocking a motor is bad. I did something similar to my Beretta years ago, although it was really not my fault. I blew an intake gasket, and the motor began sucking antifreeze into the engine. $1000 later, the motor (and seal) were fixed. That's probably a worst case scenario, so I'd do what these guys were suggesting. Either take it down to Toyota and see if they'll fix it under warranty (especially if your CAI is TRD), and if not, try pulling the plugs and...yeah, whatever else these guys said. If it's still screwed, THEN take it back to Toyota and tell them to fix it. Never forget, just because you get an estimate doesn't mean you HAVE to agree right then and there. :D

Actually, the TRD Cold Air Intake isn't warrantied, it is an off-road part that is you buy and install at your own risk.
TRD is just smart enough to put a Bypass valve on it to prevent hydro locking.

So check the fine print, even if it was a TRD CAI that lead to hydro locking, it ain't covered.
