i check the CARB site and it seems that only TRD and K&N cai are legal in CA.

but injen isnt on their yet and i really want that brand.
so if i get one and only go up to short ram would that be legal?

No intakes are legal in CA..some I believe are CARB exempt. The TRD intake that is CARB legal is for the XB2 and it actually has the sticker on it that say it's legal.

I wouldn't waste your money with an intake anyway. I sometimes regret getting mine :/..wanna put my stock box back on but to lazy to go out and buy the bolts for the stock airbox..lol if you buy an intake i'll buy those bolts off of you btw

AEM makes one for the 05-06 but lets say you get pulled over and have a 07+ and got the maf adapter for the sensor. when you go to court and show that the intake is carb legal and you have a 07+ tc then you will be screwed for modifing the intake to fit with your year which isn't carb legal so basically it's useless and no intake is carb legal in CA as well as any other part made for the tC.

The K&N is CARB legal also from what i have heard. CA sucks when it come to mods. Honestly though an intake shouldnt be a big deal. dont do anythign stupid while driving and you will be fine.

ISn't the K&N only for 05-06 though? I don't know what year the OP has but if he has an 07+ then he'll just be playin out the scenario AcidDrop mentioned

Honestly I wouldn't worry about being pulled over as long as you don't drive like an idiot you should be fine. I was only regretting getting my intake cause it really doesn't do anything for the car

^yeah the K&N is carb legal as well but only for the 05-06 models. as xiemperorix said about not driving like an idiot and you should be fine it true but if you have an exhaust as well then they would usually ask you to pop your hood to check if you have anyother mods.

i guess you didn't you read my post above about tring to get a carb legal intake and having a different year than the intake is legalized for, no matter how much you try and fight the ticket if you do get caught with the intake your still gonna have to pay the full fine and not some fix it ticket crap because you have an 08 model and not a 05-06. just buy any type of intake and you'll be fine as long as you don't have an exhaust, i live not to far from moorpark and i know how the cops are there.

wow. screw CA.

I'm glad I live in ND. I flashed a cop with my HID's, he asked if they were standard, and didn't notice the NOS bottle laying on the floor.

nor said anything about my exhaust, or intake or tinted tails, or 18% tint.

muwahahhha

Buy the TRD and Injen, remove the CARB badge from the TRD, put it on the Injen.

Or, buy the injen, and fab up some of the stock pieces to cover the injen so it looks like stock, but it really isnt.

There is absolutely no way i would ever pay 400 for an intake, even if it was legal. I just wouldn't have one or i would take it off to get inspected. They already jacked the price up to like 315 for the 09-10 intakes because they put a new filter on it.

Did they seriously jack the price up that high? wow..I remember when I bought mine it was like half that..I've learned my lesson though..not buying an intake for my next car that's for sure..or a header for that matter..
